In honor of Thanksgiving, many around the world will celebrate the day gathering with friends and family and share in the tradition of giving thanks, prayer and a specially prepared feast, and profess specific reasons for their thankfulness to God for the gifts He has given. A day of celebration where many will count the many blessings God has graciously bestowed. A time where family and friends will give thanks for all God has done.
The day filled with an attitude of gratitude, appreciation, and thankfulness for the greatest gift God has given; His Son Jesus Christ who paid the debt for our sins and gave us eternal life as a free gift.
Although many will have had painful experiences throughout the year and faced insurmountable challenges, the focus is not on what did not turn out right only to complain about it, but is on how good God has been in spite of it. Giving thanks for everything He has done, remembering every good thing comes from God. “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows” (James 1:17).
We have so much to be thankful for. Glorify and magnify the Lord. Let not just today be a day we are grateful and give thanks to God for the gifts. Let every day be a day we enter his gates with praise and thankfulness. Be thankful in everything. And remember the true spirit of Thanksgiving Day; the greatest gift God has given to us. His Son Jesus Christ who sacrificed his life and died on the cross.
From my family to yours, have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!
Be blessed! –JD
Psalm 95:1-6 “O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. 2 Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.3 For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods.4 In his hand are the deep places of the earth: the strength of the hills is his also.5 The sea is his, and he made it: and his hands formed the dry land.6 O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the Lord our maker.” (NIV)
