wpid-img_20141117_110646.jpgWhen I look back over my life and think of all God has done for me, I can’t help but to thank him and shout glory! My life is filled with the goodness of God. My heart is full. I have the peace of God. The more my mind and soul are at rest, the less I am distressed. I don’t worry about a thing. I know I’m blessed.

Had my life been this simple years ago, I would have been on top of the world but then I thought, had I not met with trials, trouble, and tribulations, how would I have overcome? Had I not faced insurmountable obstacles causing me to seek God’s help, where then would my provision have come from? Certainly not me. I was a mess myself. I was so messed up and couldn’t get a thing right which caused me a lot of trouble. Every decision I made without God turned into a disaster.

Had I not met with what I felt was a tragedy in the death of my former life when I lost everything, what would I have or where would I be now? Without God, I would have nothing. Every trial, test, tragedy, trouble, and tribulation was for God’s purpose. It strengthen my faith. It wasn’t meant to be finished sooner rather than later. God had a purpose.

For every terrible experience, God intended to use it to accomplish a greater good. Everything I have gone through in my life was for a greater good. People may have left me, folks may have talked about me, and some may have even denied me. But God. I’m a living testimony. I’m still standing.

I found that in every season of my life, even though it took years, God had to work through me, prune, and develop me for my future to arrive here. I’m stronger, wiser, better. I have no regrets. Had it not been for the Lord on my side, my soul would not be at rest. God I thank you. My soul cries yes!

When in distress, take a moment to look over your life and think about the goodness of God. When you meet new trials, remember how great God is and how good He has been to you. Think about all the good things, even in the bad times, that God has done for you. There may have been some bad times and trouble seemed like it was going to last forever. God is a good God. He is always on time. He is sovereign.

We don’t know what a person had to get through to get where they are. They don’t look like what they been through. God brought them this far.

In everything, give thanks to God. It was by his grace you made it. God brought you this far.

Be blessed! -JD

Psalm 71:14-18 “As for me, I will always have hope; I will praise you more and more. 15 My mouth will tell of your righteous deeds, of your saving acts all day long—though I know not how to relate them all. 16 I will come and proclaim your mighty acts, Sovereign Lord; I will proclaim your righteous deeds, yours alone. 17 Since my youth, God, you have taught me, and to this day I declare your marvelous deeds. 18 Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, my God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your mighty acts to all who are to come.” (NIV)

God’s Plan is Much Greater Than What We See. Have Faith. Believe!

wpid-textgram_1407220058.pngOftentimes we may never understand the meaning of life, the actions of others, or the workings of God. Yet we continue to live. Not realizing where we may find ourselves is not because of what we’ve done but because of what God is doing and has done.

Life is a journey, filled with unwinding roads, unforeseen circumstances, insurmountable obstacles, painstaking moments, and impoverished mindsets. At times, may cause us to lose our way, changing our mindset. Failing to see God in anything. Be assured, God is all knowing. He cares for us. He loves us and is always with us.

Sometimes trials are meant to test us. To see just how much we trust God. No matter the circumstance, He wants to know how much will we trust him. He wants to know if we trust what he will do, regardless of what we’re facing, knowing in the end what we will do. He knows what he’s going to do.

Prayer is key. It unlocks the door to faith. No matter what you may face today, have faith. Know that the answer is just a prayer away. God is sovereign. He would never bring us this far to leave us. Put your trust in Him.

It is never for us to understand why things happen as they do or why God does what he does. We only need to have faith in what we cannot see, believing God’s plan is much greater than what we see.

God has a plan and we’re part of it. Don’t fret. Great is thy faithfulness. Trials will come. The storm won’t last forever. God is the same yesterday and today and forever.

Be blessed! -JD

Deuteronomy 28:1-3 “And if you faithfully obey the voice of the LORD your God, being careful to do all his commandments that I command you today, the LORD your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth. 2 And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, if you obey the voice of the LORD your God. 3 Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the field.” (ESV)

Hands Up Don’t Spend One Day Will Not Solve the Problem – America, Pick Your Battles Wisely

wpid-img_20141101_125554.jpgPlease forgive me if I may sound a little indifferent or lack compassion in response to what is happening in Ferguson, Missouri but I am having difficulty understanding what purpose will Hands Up Don’t Spend on Black Friday serve?

One day will not solve the problem.  If you’re going to boycott businesses believing it will make an economic impact, instead why not make it more than one day but make it ongoing. Because what I can see happening is business will be forced to hurriedly come up with a new game plan and most likely will change or extend the sale days to appeal to the customer on another day. It may be as close as Saturday. They are already anticipating the loss with news of the proposed boycott, so don’t you think they have met with upper management to put another plan in place? Take a moment and let that sink in.

While I have never been one to participate in Black Friday because of my own personal beliefs, I do not see the benefit in having people not shop this day to make a statement. When in fact it should be more than believing that not giving our money to established businesses “one day” will solve the problem.

Which prompts me to ask, Will it stop the violence? Will it stop the injustices or racial divide we continue to see across America? Will it bring back loved ones lost because of injustice, wrongful death, or anything that we believe brought about the injustice out of our failure to truly understand the real issue at hand?

I believe in order to make a positive impact surrounding race relations, racial divide, or social injustice we need to seriously talk about it and not just be about it. The solution should result in change, not conflict. I also believe what would be of benefit to curve the stigma of social injustice would be to put a plan in action that will directly affect the people responsible for what we clearly believe is contributing to the problem in America.

Believe it or not, it’s not having people not spend their money on what some may feel is an important day to save prior to the holidays or any day for that matter, but it starts with voting or removing those out of office who are perpetuating the problem.

Take a moment and think about how this would be if the tables were reversed and black businesses were boycotted? Do you think this would solve any problems for them? Do you think it would hurt their businesses? Or do you think it makes any sense to choose this plan of action to gain attention or solve a problem I believe has nothing to do with the real problem in America.

In my opinion, I think we should really sit down, think about what it is we as a nation need to do collectively to move forward by creating an effective plan of action, long-term, that will result in change, not in our pockets but in our hearts.

Race has been and always will be an issue in America. It is ongoing. We may believe we have come far but we still have a long ways to go. Yet no matter how racially divided we are, we may not ever be able to come together as a race or as a nation for that matter if we cannot come together peacefully to find resolve.

We must stop using an ineffective thought process to fix a broken system that has been broken forever but instead think rationally, pull from our resources, and meet with government officials and agencies who have the power to make a difference. Be the change you want to see and not the change you are not seeing. Thank you. And I approve this message.

When the climate seems dry, outdated, and your options are all dried up. Change the climate, dance in the rain, and water the dry season. – Signed Me

Be blessed! -JD

To the Family of Mike Brown, the City of Ferguson and Families Everywhere, We Are Praying for You. Please Stop the Violence

While watching television the other night, my regular program was interrupted with an announcement from the St. Louis County prosecutor informing the public of the long awaited grand jury verdict in the case of the young man Michael Brown who was shot and killed by a police officer in Ferguson, Missouri.

Based on the length of the announcement prior to making the final announcement, we already knew where it was going. My first thought was to pray. Then all I could do was ask that we lift the family of Mike Brown and the city of Ferguson, Missouri in prayer. We must also lift the nation in prayer because this is only the beginning of what’s to come.

Sadly, the issue of race relations is becoming the focus in this country and in so many ways, it seems like we are going backwards in time instead of forward. As though nothing has changed but is only getting worse. There is a lack of respect not only for the President, the people of this country, but for any person regardless of race who have endured an injustice at no fault of their own.

Trayvon Martin’s family endured a heavy burden and now Michael Brown’s family is experiencing the same. I pray for peace that surpasses all understanding, comfort, strength, wisdom, no violence, disturbances, or anything that will disrespect the memory and honor of the son of the Brown family. They truly deserve our prayers and support during this time of sadness and uncertainty.

I couldn’t help but re-post an image I used a few years ago with another post that I found to serve as a gentle reminder and let those know who have been affected by tragedy, who have experienced a painful loss, or have lost loved ones, that you are in our thoughts and prayers. I pray it brings some peace and comfort.

While we may never understand any of this, we serve a mighty, mighty, God. He is all-knowing. Prayers of the righteous avail much. God hears, sees, and knows all. His will be done. He WILL send the answer.

To the city of Ferguson, the family of Michael Brown, and the nation, we are praying for you. God is faithful. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. #‎Ferguson‬

Don’t Worry About A Thing Today. If God Be For Us, Who Can Be Against Us?

If GodBe of good cheer. I’m thinking about you today. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Don’t worry about a thing today.

Here are a few words of inspiration to help you get through the day. Remember what God says in Romans 8:28-31,

“28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. 29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. 31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?”

Man can do you no harm. When praises go up, blessings come down. God is good all the time. No man can take away what God has for you. What God has for you is for you.

If God be for us, who can be against us? When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him. Be encouraged!

Be blessed! -JD

Jeremiah 1:19 “They will fight against you but they shall not prevail against you, for I am with you, declares the Lord, to deliver you.” (ESV)

I Love the Lord! Praise God. Woke With a New Song in My Heart. Thank you Jesus!

wpid-img_20141027_112258.jpgWoke with a new song in my heart. “O how I love Jesus, Oh how I love Jesus, O how I love Jesus. Because He first loved me.” Thank you Jesus!

Every day I wake up is God saying, “I’m not through with you yet.” And every day the devil see my feet hit the floor, it makes him furious. Oh God she’s up!

Yep! I’m up. I’m wearing the full armor of God. Suited for battle. I’m armed and dangerous. Ready to fight the battle I know is coming. Get thee behind me, Satan! “But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men” (Matthew 16:23).

Sometimes you have to will yourself from the very things that will distract you from hearing from God. Stay focused. Keep your mind stayed on Jesus.

We can become easily frustrated when things don’t turn out as we expect. Or we can praise God for protecting us, in spite of the rejection. God said, everything is going to be alright. I know. When I prayed for you, he told me so. He said tell them, it is so because God said so. No matter what happens today, don’t let anyone steal your joy. God gave it to you, not them. Do not be discouraged. Be of good courage.

God I thank you for who I am and who I used to be, because had it not been for who I was, I wouldn’t be who I am today to walk in my destiny. Thank you Jesus!

People may never understand why I talk about God so much. Jesus thought enough of me when he died on cross. I can’t help it. I love him!

Be blessed! –JD

John 17:24-26 “Father, I desire that they also, whom you have given me, may be with me where I am, to see my glory that you have given me because you loved me before the foundation of the world. 25 O righteous Father, even though the world does not know you, I know you, and these know that you have sent me. 26 I made known to them your name, and I will continue to make it known, that the love with which you have loved me may be in them, and I in them. Fiery Trials will Come. Rejoice! The Greater the Struggle, the Greater the Reward

Oftentimes it is not until we hear of someone else problems or realize the depth of another person’s struggle that we are grateful to God for his many blessings bestowed upon us.

When looking over our own lives, we start counting our blessings, thanking God for grace and mercy even though we didn’t deserve it.

We are thankful. We say, “I woke up in my right mind. All my needs have been met. I may not have all I desire but I have all I need. There is no lack. I may be sick but not terminally ill. I may be in a place of waiting right now with some struggles but I am healed. Bills have been paid. Debts have been cancelled. The weight of the world is no longer on my shoulders. I may have problems but my thoughts are in the right perspective.”

For the past few weeks I have not been feeling well and have been in somewhat of a slumber with a lack of energy, motivation, or enough strength to get out of bed and do things my heart so desire. The past year has brought about some insurmountable challenges and major decisions that also contributed to my lacking the ability to finish projects that have been in the works for years. It rendered me helpless and a bit hopeless.

However, at times I find that no matter how often I may feel like Job, Jeremiah, and the Apostle Paul all wrapped in one being of myself when going through fiery trials. Failing to understand why I’m still here, I am assured God is with me. I begin to think about all God has done for me and thank him not only for what I have but what I don’t have. Thankful to God for saving me from things I thought were necessary for my success. Later realizing God saved me from things that were not for my good. He is my refuge.

While I may not be in the best of health to do what I used to be able to do, I have more than enough strength through God. I don’t allow trivial matters to stop my giving glory to God. I press towards the mark.

For the first time in over a year, I managed to reintroduce myself to my book and am trying to recapture my story. I’ve been recording my thoughts to later put on paper, reading over my book, taking notes, and making some edits. I may have had writers block for a long time but so grateful I’m now in a better place to start again, at least collect my thoughts, and pick up where I left off.

I pulled out and updated my vision board the other day. God will have his way. While many things have not yet come to pass, I’m believing God for a miracle. And to make matters even better, after watching Steve Harvey’s “Act Like a Success, Think Like a Success” on Uptv the other day, I paid close attention to the lessons he noted: “Lesson #1: You Must Have a Dream and Vision. Lesson #2: You must identify your gift. Lesson #3: You Must Be Willing to Jump. Take a leap of faith. Lesson #4: Surround yourself with the right people. Lesson #5: Don’t be afraid to reinvent yourself.”

I said to myself, OK. I have 1, 4, and 5 down pat. Still working on 2 and 3. In the meantime, I began talking to the tv and made declarations, “I’m going to #ActLikeASuccess, I will #ThinkLikeASuccess and I will be one! I am not afraid to reinvent myself. I began to toss around some ideas in my head about my business. I started talking out loud to myself. Speaking victory, envisioning what I could do to make my dreams become a reality. Believing the best is yet to come for me.

Oftentimes God will take us through a fiery trial, if need be to break the spirit. That we may willingly yield to the power of Holy Spirit. God can move mountains. I know. Because he said so. No matter how big the problem, say to this mountain, “Move” and it will move. God promised he will do it for you. God is a promise keeper. Take him at his word. He’ll never leave you or forsake you. He’s always with you. He will do what he promised.

None of us are strangers to fear. When troubled on every side, God’s grace is sufficient. Fear not. Have faith. His strength is made perfect in weakness. Sometimes you have to think yourself beyond what your mind says you aren’t; and believe that you are. God says you’re more than a conqueror.

Fiery trials will come. Rejoice! The greater the struggle, the greater the reward.

Be blessed! –JD

1 Peter 4:12-13 “Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. 13 But rejoice insofar as you share Christ’s sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed. (ESV)

Glory! Something About the Name of Jesus Sets My Soul Free

wpid-img_20141101_123802.jpgIn moments of despair and times of trouble, when I call on the name of Jesus, my soul cries yes. I forget about my troubles.

My soul yearns for God. No one can comfort me like he does. There’s something about the name of Jesus that sets my soul free. There’s an abundance of love. My cup runs over. No matter the circumstance, I give God all the glory. I love him. I can’t help but to praise him.

When your back is to the wall, you cry out to God to rescue you. God is not an emergency, on call god. Don’t let emergencies be the only time you need him.

Stop calling on him only when you’re stuck. God doesn’t want your sacrifice. He wants your obedience. Don’t just call him when you need something. In cases of emergencies. He wants you to know him more than what you bring to him. He wants you to know, trust, and love him.

It doesn’t take much. Lift your hands in praise. Call on the name of Jesus. “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6) I love the name of Jesus. I may not have much. God is so good to me. I’m blessed.

There’s something about the name of Jesus. The sweetest name I know. And his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace. Something about that name. Glory!

Be blessed! -JD

Philippians 2:9-11 “Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (ESV)
