Why Some of Y’all Turning Your 11 Day Journey into a 40 Year One? Stop it! Check Your GPS Navigation Signals

GPS JoaynnThe other day I had an epiphany. Imagine this. It took the Israelites 40 years wandering in wilderness which should have only taken 11 days to reach the Promised Land, delaying their arrival because of the path they chose to take. As well as their mindset.

Going around the same mountain over and over with a merry-go-round mentality, instead of changing it to make progress to reach their final destination. Sounds familiar? Question? Why some of y’all turning your 11 day journey into a 40 year one? Stop… Look… Listen…!

While traveling yesterday in unknown territory in a part of town I was uncomfortable and unfamiliar with, I tried to convince myself it would be easier to go the route I was accustomed to reach my final destination because I didn’t want to be inconvenienced. But the GPS kept instructing me to drive according to the directions on the map. I grumbled and complained the whole time while driving and with resistance, I followed instructions and got there safely. And on time.

However, on my way back I decided to change directions opposite the GPS, switched lanes at the last minute and followed my own leading thinking I would get to the freeway faster. Lo and behold, that wasn’t the best decision because it took me longer and further down the road than I wanted to go.

The moment I changed my mindset, turned around and went a short distance up the street, within a matter of minutes I was at the freeway and made it home in less time it would have taken if I had gone out of my way simply because I wanted what was convenient and not what was uncomfortable. My changed mindset made a huge difference.

How many times do we do this? Waste time at Mount bitterness, regret, resentment, frustration, irritation, or discouragement in our travel from Mount Past to the promised land of God’s call. We delay reaching the land of joy, rest, happiness or deliverance because of bad choices. *Raises hand* I’ll answer.

It is said, and I have a tendency to believe, sometimes we allow these things to take residence in our hearts because we refuse to change. Then we blame God for “delay not denied.” It’s not that God doesn’t delay our requests, because sometimes he does. Or does not necessarily deny our requests, because sometimes he does. Some prayers are unanswered simply because of our disobedience.

On the other hand, sometimes we cause our own delay and deny our own more abundant blessings when our mindset is not in alignment with what God promises. His ways are not our ways. His thoughts are not our thoughts. When God sends you on a journey, he promise his purpose will be fulfilled; in his timing. Don’t rush the process.

Life ain’t always easy. Get your mind right! Let go of what’s familiar. Stop taking the scenic route. Get spiritual. Navigate life’s journey with what I call the ultimate GPS, God’s Providential Sovereignty. Let the Holy Spirit guide you in the right direction. It’s already inside you. Move forward. Get your blessing! -Selah

Happy One Year Anniversary to My Blog Joaynn510!

As I go to check my stats on my blog tonight from my Kindle Fire, I noticed this odd notification symbol in my notifications waiting to be read. I click on it and to my surprise, lo and behold, this is what it said:

“Happy Anniversary! You registered on WordPress.com 1 year ago! Thanks for flying with us. Keep up the good blogging!”

I cannot believe it has been one year since I started blogging and never would have imagined I would have made it this far. I give all glory to God. What’s even more exciting is to my surprise I managed to get 500 likes, 7,228 hits, 1,236 followers, five awards, a number of pingbacks, and countless comments. Not to mention I am following many fantastically great blogs. Not bad considering I didn’t think it would go this far. Many times I wanted to quit (trust me) but after seeing this tonight, it inspires me and gives me the drive and motivation to continue.

I must send a huge, genuine, heartfelt “Thank You” to the beautiful connections I have established with many bloggers here locally and across the globe, to every one who took the time to visit my blog, liked my posts, commented on my blog, and even those who stopped by just to view. I appreciate and thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Since the related article below appeared in the Zemanta recommendation while creating this post, I thought what better time to add it for viewing to acknowledge yet another accomplishment I am proud of.

I was invited to participate in aopinionatedman’s Project O opinionated project two months ago and my post appeared on his blog September 29, 2013. I had not managed to find the time or know-how to link it to my blog but the link automatically appeared tonight and only required one click. Now that’s what I call divine. Please feel free to take a moment and read what I had to say. I hope you enjoy it.

I am beyond excited and feel as though this is a major milestone for me in a world that began as unfamiliar but is beginning to grow on me. I am overjoyed! I look forward to what’s to come. What a way to end my night.

Singing Happy Anniversary to me! 🙂

Be blessed! -JD

Very Inspiring Blogger Award 2013

20130215045341As if this day couldn’t get any better, I received some exciting news that I have been nominated for a Very Inspiring Blogger Award by Looking for reasoning to a complicated world at http://prayingforoneday.wordpress.com/

This is my first time receiving such nomination and may not get this right. However I am very humbled and would like to take a moment to send a warm “thank you” to Looking for reasoning to a complicated world for the nomination.  Such a humbling experience. Thank you!

Every day, I wake up with a new revelation from God confirming the assignment he have purposed for me. All while sending affirmation that I am doing as he desires in spite of the adversity I may encounter . I thank Him.

Now I have to follow the rules as noted below in this particular order but if I err please know it’s not intentional. Here goes:

I now have to say 7 things about myself. Then nominate 15 people for the award.

7 things about me:

1.) I love and am in love with God.

2.) I am a twin.

3.) My two grandsons are my world. I am loyal and believe family and true friends are very important to me.

4.) I am very passionate about individuals who suffer with chronic pain or have been diagnosed with a chronic illness.

5.) I am an active, vocal, yet “silent” Chronic Pain advocate.

6.) Music is my number one passion.

7.)  I desire to visit Israel one day and have put it on my vision board to travel with my church next year.

Now for the hard part.

I can appreciate and have a deep love for the expression of art in any form be it poetry, music, art, dance, writing, or by voice.  So I took the liberty of using this as part of the basis for my selections below:

15 people I would like to nominate:

Living Simply In Abundance

We Live By Faith

Kendall F. Person, thepublicblogger

Mustard Seed Budget

Live your life for God

Eva Santiago

The Lady Journal

Gladiola Photography

Looking for reasoning to a complicated world

HarsH ReaLiTy

Ray Ferrer – Emotion on Canvas

Happy note: At the time of this post, I had not yet notified any of the nominees I listed above of the nominations because I was still trying to figure out this award recognition process and found the rules to be a bit time-consuming that took more work than anticipated or is required. And needless to say, I was a bit confused and didn’t manage to do it properly.  I’m still new at this, so forgive me.

Nevertheless, I wanted to acknowledge those I feel inspire and encourage my presence here. So if nothing else, the above list is my way of saying “thank you” for your inspiration and words of encouragement. Hopefully, I will get it right the next time.

Be blessed! -JD
