Don’t Get So Comfortable You Become Complacent. Change is Good. Be Uncomfortable. God is Working It Out in Your Favor!

Orchestrated By God JoaynnWhat happens when the life you prospered and found great joy in changes suddenly and you’re not prepared for it? It happened suddenly and you were not ready to accept it? You were in denial and refused to move from your comfort zone because you were afraid of change.

Out of fear, you became resistant and decided it would be best to stagnate your progress instead of growing from it.

It was easy to be complacent and comfortable because you finally made some changes in your life and you became accomplished and known for your great works just for that season. You even managed to garner a title to identify with when others spoke or referred to you as great. But fame is only temporary. What you do for Christ will last. Don’t get it twisted.

Yet there will be some changes along the way. Can you handle it? God has a way of presenting change for a greater purpose; for a greater good. You see, with change comes new beginnings filled with new purpose. God is preparing you for something greater, on purpose.

As such, before he can elevate you, he has to prune, shape, and refine you. You may not like the change and may even be resistant to it. I say, don’t regret it. In fact, welcome it. Not because your situation may change but some things in you will change. Not just around you but you will be required to change some things about you.

When God opens a door you must be ready to walk through it for such a time as this. Be ready to walk through it. Even in difficult times or situations, trust God. You need to make the most of any situation. God promises something good will come from it. Be ready when it comes. God knows exactly what he’s doing!

Be blessed! – JD

Consider Trouble A Blessing And Not A Curse. God Is Preparing You For Your Future. Declare, I’m Walking In My Destiny. I Got The Victory!

You're A Victor JoaynnWhen you go through the unspeakable you will find out who your true friends are. You will know who God is and learn who you truly are.

See, before storms in life present itself to us we have an idea of what we are made of. But when the storm comes, we cannot imagine who we may become. We may rely on people to approve, accept, and acknowledge us believing this is what we need to become who we will be. However, none of it is necessary.

When going through the trial and our faith is tested, we learn about ourselves. God shows us who he is. We may never understand the season we’re in but we learn of God’s power and sovereignty while in it. He is preparing us for what he already knows; our future. He’s pruning, refining, shaping us for what’s to come. Be grateful.

Adversity reveals character. Trials make us stronger. Thank God for the trials and the people who left you. Everybody can’t go with you. No matter what season you may find yourself in, God is all you need. He approves of you. Believe.

Be blessed! – JD

Proverbs 3:25, 26 “Do not be afraid of sudden terror or the ruin of the wicked, when it comes, for the Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being caught.” (ESV)

God Gave You a Vision of Promise. Never Give Up On Your Dreams. What God Has Planned, It Will Succeed

God Determines Your Destiny JoaynnNo matter what your circumstances are or what happens today, be content in all things. God will supply all your needs. Don’t be discouraged.

God gave you a vision of promise. Don’t ever give up on your dreams. One phone call, one idea, one divine connection can be life changing. The vision is yet for an appointed time. Wait on God. God always keeps his promises. It will surely come.  Believe! It will be fulfilled.

Whatever God starts, he finishes. It’s done. Your situation may seem hopeless. It ain’t over until God says it over. God says it is finished.

Stop giving people permission to control your destiny. Only God determines your destiny. They didn’t call or appoint you. God did. Seek Him.

Say this to yourself and declare every day with me, God will perfect that which concerns me. It won’t always be like this. One day the tides will turn in my favor. God will see me through this.

Be blessed! –JD

Habakkuk 2:3 “For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry. (KJV)

Welcome to Monday! It’s Going to be A Great Day. Go Get Your Blessing!

wpid-img_20150124_075712.jpgToday I want to encourage you. Here are a few words of inspiration to take with you. You may be wandering in wilderness and it feels like it has been forever. Count it all joy. Rise up and be counted.

You may go through the trial and never understand the test but when the teacher is silent, study the word and listen, to pass the test.

Take note of what God says in his Word. Live it, breathe it, do what it says. Don’t let your circumstances dictate your destiny. Walk in victory.

God wants to take you from Egypt to the “promised land”. Get up! Say to yourself, “Every day I will do something.” To propel me to reach my destiny. What God has for me is for me. No man can curse what God has blessed. Now get up and go get your blessing!

Be blessed! -JD

Ephesians 3:14-19For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, 16 that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19 and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.” (ESV)

Until You Walk in My Shoes You Probably Can’t Fit, Don’t Judge Me. One Day You May Have To Walk in My Shoes and Travel the Same Journey

wpid-img_20150106_203649.jpg

People can be all for you and will walk with you until you break the heel of your shoes. They will scatter, nowhere to be found, only to abandon you. You will find yourself trying to repair what’s broken, alone. The journey may seem hard and the road you travel will be long.

You will lose some things along the way. People will gossip behind your back. You will find out who your real friends are and know for sure who don’t have your back. In the journey, one thing for sure you will come to understand, just how faithful God is. Until you walk in someone else shoes, you may never understand their journey. Never judge a person. One day you may have to walk in their shoes and travel that same journey.

As I sat in pure silence the other day, I began to think about many things but what disturbed me most is how I can minister to, support, and celebrate others yet cannot minister to myself when others fail me. And begin to doubt myself when they disappoint me. This is an area I deeply struggle with. I keep praying and asking God for help, seeking deliverance. Yet, no matter how hard I try to look away and ignore things I see around me that are not what I desire them to be, at times it can be difficult to appreciate the things I’ve accomplished without feeling guilty. I feel I’ve not done enough. I fail to celebrate my own accomplishments when I feel stuck.

I’ve accomplished many things in my life that I am proud of. Some goals I set for myself have been met years ago. Without God, it would not have been possible. However at times, I find it difficult to see what good it has done because I’m still waiting for something to happen. Just when I think I am on the right track, something happens and set me back. Only to have to start all over again. But with God, I still manage to make it look good on me from start to end.

I dress well. I look the part. I don’t look like what I’ve been through. No one knows what’s going on deep inside my heart. Yes, at times I find myself hurt, disappointed, discouraged, and confused. With God, I cannot lose. I refuse to let it hinder me. I keep trusting God in spite of adversity. I am believing he will see me through no matter what people may do to me.

When I allow negative thoughts to enter my mind, I become angry, confused as tears begin to fall from my eyes. Like water flowing from an imaginary faucet that don’t seem real. I tell myself, I may be distraught but I refuse to become desperate. Yet I begin to question myself asking God, “Am I doing something wrong? Is it something I’m failing to see?” I have my moments. I begin to doubt his ability. I ask him, “Why does it seem everyone around me is growing but me”? But in a split second I realize, it’s not them. It’s me. When I look over my life and see how far God has brought me, I have grown and still am growing.

I may miss the mark and not understand all that God does because it’s not for me to understand all he does. But what I do know, wherever God takes me, is the place I need to grow to do what he has called me to do. That I may bring forth what he has already planned for me. He has me right in the place he needs me to be.

Immediate circumstances will change what you believe, if you let it. No matter what you face, don’t let it. I cannot be paralyzed by fear. I’ve learned to accept failure as a blessing. No one can stop me from believing God’s plan for my life. God has birthed a vision in me and I have faith it will manifest in the natural.

It is not enough to be in the right place, you have to be there at the right time. God is always on time. When God wants to take you to a different level, let him. But he can’t do it when you continue to stay in your comfort level. God conceived a vision in you. He want to give birth to the vision he conceived in you. He wants to take you from Egypt to the “promised land”. Get up! Say to yourself, “Every day I will do something”. To propel me to reach my destiny. What God has for me is for me.

Understand this, whatever God does in your life is to get you in the right place at the right time for His Will to be done. Don’t let your circumstances cause you to miss your blessings. When you know God’s Word is true, in the face of anything, stand on it, believe in all things, and not fall for anything. Have an attitude of gratitude. Don’t curse your situation. Nobody can stop you from fulfilling God’s plan for your life. Trust Him. God gave YOU a vision.

Know that you’re not done until the vision is completed. God will complete it! Learn to accept failure as a blessing. And if that don’t work, look to the word of God. “Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 1:6)

We can never imagine all that God has in store for us. Move from complaining to worshiping and praising Him. “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him” – but God has revealed it to us by his spirit. (1 Cor 1:9-10) Don’t be afraid to endure hardship. Be hopeful. Have courage to press on. This world is not all there is. The best is yet to come.

God gave you a vision. Believe it or not, you’re pregnant with possibilities. There will be birthing pains before delivery. Reflect not on what you don’t have but what God has done for you. The righteous shall live by his faith. You will birth the vision. God will deliver in his timing!

No matter what we may go through or what people do to us, it is God who celebrates, elevates, and sustains us. Rejoice! God is our keeper.

Be blessed! –JD

Habakkuk 2:2 “And the Lord answered me: “Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it.”

Thankful Thursday Thought – Are You Like the Tree Planted By the Waters?

20141210085924The Word of God in Psalm 1:3 tells us, “….Whatever he does prospers.” No matter the trials, with God on your side, in due season you will bear fruit. No weapon formed against you shall prosper.

You may have troubles or difficulties along the way. Trials are inevitable. Do not be dismayed. It doesn’t mean we are immune from failure or difficulties. Nor does it guarantee we will be happy.

What the Bible means by prosperity is “when we apply God’s wisdom, the fruit (results or by-products) we bear will be good and will receive God’s approval. We are to soak up God’s Word that it may produce attitudes and actions that will honor God” (1:3). Delight in his presence. Meditate on the Word of God.

God’s Word is our source of nourishment. It feeds the soul. The more you delight in his presence, the more fruitful you are. Spend time with God. Trust Him in every area of your life. Delight in the Lord.

God I thank you for the trees planted by the water. No weapon formed against us shall prosper. When troubled, you are a present help. God, I thank you for your faithfulness. Thank you Jesus!

Are you like the tree planted by the water? If not, get an understanding. Trust God in every encounter. Bear good fruit. Trees planted by the water never fail to bear fruit.

Be blessed! -JD

Psalm 1:3 “Blessed is the man who does not walk in counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. 3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.” (NIV)

Won’t God Do It! If He brings You To It, He Will See You Through It. Have Faith. He Will Do It!

wpid-img_20140829_083540.jpgEvery day we wake to see the sun rise, its God saying to us, I’m not done. There’s still work to do. You’re on assignment. God chose you.

Each of us will go through the valley before there’s a mountaintop experience. It is in the valley God wants to know if we trust him. Sometimes God has to take you through the valley to see the mountain move above you. When God moves the mountain, he’s refining you. This will be your place of fruitfulness. You will experience God’s faithfulness. Tell the world how you’ve overcome. This will be your testimony.

Jesus came that we might have life and have it more abundantly. God is able to do exceedingly abundantly. Don’t let the enemy deceive you only to frustrate your purpose. The devil can never destroy God’s purpose. You shall live and not die. You will experience the mountaintop.

Be encouraged today. When God starts something, he finishes it. Be confident. He won’t give up on you. He will complete the work he began in you.

No matter what you’re going through, it does not go unnoticed. God’s setting things in motion. When it’s your set time, it will come. God has a set time it will happen. You may have gone through some things so God could trust you in this season. You’ll get stuff you didn’t even ask for. Trust Him. It’s coming. God takes us through seasons according to his plan. Put everything in God’s hands.

Be steadfast in your obedience to God. Don’t let anything deter you from missing the mark. God has a great plan for your future. He knows the plans he has for your future. Plans to prosper and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope for the future (Jeremiah 29:11). God loves you.

If God brings you to it, he will see you through it. Have faith. Hallelujah! Yes, won’t he do it!

Be blessed! -JD

Philippians 1:6-7 “6For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus. 7For it is only right for me to feel this way about you all, because I have you in my heart, since both in my imprisonment and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel, you all are partakers of grace with me.” (NASB)

Psalm 37:25 “I have never seen the righteous forsaken nor his seed begging bread.” Trust God. He Knows What He’s Doing

wpid-img_20140827_071814.jpgA journey is like pockets of carefully calculated air we breathe. We meet with crossroads of uncertainty, never knowing where it will lead. It’s all in God’s timing indeed.

When storms come and we find ourselves wondering how did we get on the other side? Asking ourselves over and over, how did we make it out alive? We’re bewildered at how we made it through the storm. It was all God. He rescued us while riding through the storm.

Every day we will face new challenges and new experiences that will question our faith. And at times we will find it difficult to see God in anything. God does not keep us from encountering storms, but he will see us through the storm. He promises to rescue us. He walks with and is always with us. You will not fail. “I have never seen the righteous forsaken nor his seed begging bread” (Psalm 37:25). Trust God. He knows just what he’s doing.

I know this may be hard to believe and impossible to understand, but sometimes in the face of adversity God’s perfect will for your life will be revealed. God is speaking to you. He wants to know if you trust him. He wants to see what you’re going to do because he already knows what he’s going to do.

God sends trials to test your faith. The devil sends temptation to destroy your faith. Don’t give in. Let God handle him. When God removes some things from you, the devil knows what He’s about to do and will try anything he can to destroy you. Don’t let him. Whatever he dishes out, return it to the sender!

No matter what troubles you. There’s nothing and I mean nothing God can’t do. Let go. Let God. Nothing is too hard for God. We may struggle and want to give up at times. Consider it pure joy. Praise God in the midst of the storm. No matter the circumstance, glorify God. Trials are a test of our faith. It’s where we will discover God’s faithfulness. Keep the faith.

Be blessed! –JD

Psalm 34:17-20 “17 When the righteous cry for help, the LORD hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. 18 The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. 19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him out of them all. 20 He keeps all his bones; not one of them is broken.”

Whatever God Puts Inside You, It Will Come Out You – The Seed of Greatness is Inside You!

wpid-img_20140630_185709.jpgWhen you find yourself waiting on God, be patient. God is faithful. God is working it out for his glory and for your greater good. All things work together for good. (Romans 8:28)

When it seems like things are not working out and your faith is being tested, it produces steadfastness. God’s working it out in your favor. Be encouraged. You’re blessed and highly favored.

When you’ve lost everything and feel there’s nothing to live for, it is where you will meet God and realize you have everything to live for.

It is God who is at work in you. He gives you the desire and the will to achieve his purpose. If you do God’s will, you will desire to do what he wants for his purpose. God says, ”And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules” (Ezekial 36:27).  The Holy Spirit dwells in you. Whatever he puts inside you, it will come out of you. The seed of greatness is inside you.

The seed was planted long ago. Whatever happens today has already been determined in the spiritual. God has a set time and place for it to happen in the natural. The place you’re in is for a purpose. God will fulfill his purpose.

You may feel you have been held captive for quite some time and waited years for something to happen. Then suddenly, there will come a day when you will be released from bondage and something amazing will happen. Be encouraged. All hope is not gone. You will experience visions from God. In your darkest hour is when you will hear from God.

You may not understand what it is you are to do while going through. Let me help you. Pray, meditate, study the Word. Thank God for the trials in spite of.

There’s purpose for your pain, process before promotion. Process before progress. Labor will be painful. God’s positioning you for elevation. Declare that you are in the right position to receive God’s blessings. Accept it. Walk in your destiny.

Be blessed! -JD

Joshua 1:7-97 Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. 8 Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” (NIV)

Don’t Worry About the Devil. He’ll Lie to You… God’s Word is Truth!

wpid-textgram_1396154998.pngGreater is he that is in you than he that is in the world. The devil doesn’t want you to believe that at all. He wants you to fail. God won’t let you. God is faithful. He got you!

Dear God, I’m Fearless, Free; Chains No Longer Bind Me!

Dear God,

Dear GodTen years ago I lived in fear. Instead of being fearless, I allowed the enemy to cause me to lose myself and live in fear. You see, I was afraid. I lost material possessions and my health was affected not because of me. But because of things which I had no control and I blamed everyone instead of myself. I could not find fault in me. I even lost you. And to make matters worse, I wasn’t afraid of you. In fact I was afraid of what people would think of me because of what I didn’t have or what I could no longer do for them. I was not concerned about what I could do for you. I was more concerned about them.

In the beginning I had many, many regrets and blamed everyone else for my anguish. There were people who walked out of my life I thought I needed for my provision. However you came and taught me it was you and only you I needed for my provision.

So, today I began to reflect on my life and decided to write a letter to the devil. I expressed the joy I’ve found in you and how you’ve changed my life forever. I told him, I broke up with my past long time ago. I threw away things that continued to hold me back that I felt needed to go. I laughed at him and declared disappointments won’t make me miss my destiny. I said to him, “Devil, you no longer have control. What God has for me is for me.”

I parted ways with my haters when I asked God to show me my friends. I looked around and realized over the years I started losing friends. It didn’t take long. They left me.  I began to celebrate myself in victory. Glory! I’m free. Chains no longer bind me.

I then began to think, being a Christian doesn’t mean we have all the answers because we know God. In fact we don’t know the answers but have faith and trust in God. God knows what lies ahead in our future.  No matter what happens when life changes, we must place our faith in Him and what he has prepared for us. He knows the plans he has for our future.

Take it from me. Don’t allow your disability to disable you to do, whatever it is your body may be physically capable of what God knows you can do. Be strong. Do what you know God has called you to do. When we know God and we know the word and what He instructs us to do, at no time should we ever have to ask ourselves, “What Would Jesus Do?”

I used to wake wondering, asking God how long, when will this end? Now I wake with a renewed spirit, my soul cries “Yes” not wanting it to end. All you’ve been through. Testify, even when the devil tries to ruin you. You’re a witness. Praise God. The battle is not yours, it’s the Lord’s.

Stop expecting from others what you know you won’t get from them. You will always be disappointed in them. Do what God expects from you. Revere him. This is what he desires from you. Relationships will end for different reasons every day. Whatever the reason, God uses people in our lives for his purpose to see his glory. You mustn’t focus on what was or what could have been or what you think should be. Look to God. Have faith. Know that God will do it. Believe!

The place where you are right now, in the midst of what you think are problems, really is God perfecting you, preparing you for greater. If God doesn’t do anything else, he’s done more than enough. Praise him in advance for what he’s doing, what he’s going to do, and for what he’s done.

God led me out of wilderness. He broke the shackles from my feet. Chains no longer bind me. Devil, I no longer live in fear. I’m no longer afraid. I’m free. I am fearless! Glory!

Be blessed! -JD

Psalm 56:3-4 “3 Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in you. 4 In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not be afraid. What can mortal man do to me?” (NIV)

It All Will Work For the Greater Good

There are people who may try to do what you do. They may even try to imitate you. But they can’t take away what God has for you. There are some that may be working against you. God knows and sees everything. What he has for you is for you.

Be careful who you share your dreams with. You can’t tell everybody everything about yourself. You must keep some things to yourself. Not everybody will celebrate you. You can’t share your dreams with everybody else. Trust God. His purpose will manifest and speak for itself.

When thinking about the issue of trust, I am reminded of an incident that occurred some years ago where I proposed, I thought was a great idea for the department I worked in. I felt the development of a quality assurance process would be beneficial and would help minimize errors and decrease losses in the department while increasing accuracies to the workflow.

After talking with another colleague and mentioning my idea, we managed to put together a proposal to submit to upper management. Well, as it turns out, they rejected the idea and gave lack of funding as reason for the denial. To my surprise, I later learned my supervisor took the idea to management and proposed it as his own. My name was never mentioned. Yet, God still covered me and exposed the true nature of the person I thought could be trusted.

I try not to judge people. I also am a pretty good judge of character. My downfall though is I believe everyone has the ability to do good acts. And everyone should work to do right all the time. I am naïve when it comes to right and wrong. I imagine we all have some small radar inside that signals us to know the difference between the two and we will do what’s right not when necessary but because we should. But that’s just me.

When I hear of incidents in the news where people commit unconscionable acts, my first instinct is disbelief. I cannot believe someone would do something like that. I cannot imagine a person doing such a thing without knowing it was the wrong thing to do.

I’m reminded of the story of what happened to Joseph when he shared his dreams with his brothers. They were jealous of him, turned on him, and stripped him of his coat. But that didn’t take away his integrity. God knew what he had already prepared for him. God was with him. His purpose was fulfilled through him.

In spite of his brothers working against him as the enemy, who tried to kill his dreams, he overcame. Although he may have suffered and had some struggles, God’s plan was greater in the end. Joseph forgave his brothers. God’s purpose was served in the end. For God, he did great things. He used Joseph as the vessel to carry out his will. His dreams were carried out in spite of them. God gave Joseph the gift to interpret dreams but it was not the dreams that helped Joseph interpret its meaning. It was his knowledge of God. God set him up to fulfill his dreams. It was all God.

Even at my age I am still learning how to not be so naïve, just as Joseph who was too. I know the difference between discerning and judging others. I have love for all my sisters and brothers. I’ve always been one to share my goals and aspirations with others. I hardly ever think about the motives or intentions of them. I try to think in terms of good things about them. God also gives me discernment. No matter what or regardless of their intent, I know in the end it won’t stop God’s intent. What God has for me is for me. No one or nothing can ever take it away from me. Just as he has for me, he has for you. No one can stop the plans God has for you.

I heard this from my Bishop at church today and it serves as confirmation of the words I’ve chosen to share today. “God has a gift that isn’t just for me here locally, but for the nation. He will make me great to the nations. And he will bless me. He will bless those who bless me, help those who help me. He will curse those who curse me, and punish those who hurt me.” I will be what God has called me to be. God’s purpose will manifest through me.

Most importantly, I’ve learned that opportunities may come when we least expect them. We must be prepared for the unexpected. Yet sometimes we aren’t, especially when we think we are. We must make sure we have the right relationship with God. When opportunities come don’t miss or misinterpret them; be ready. Stay close to God. Be ready!

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose (Rom 8:28 KJV).

What man meant for evil, God meant for good. No matter the situation or what others think or do. It all will work for the greater good.

Be blessed! -JD

1 Corinthians 12:7-9: 11 “Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. 8To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by means of the Spirit, 9to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit,… 11All these are the work of and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, just as he determines.” (NIV)

“The greater the gifts are, the more the possessor is exposed to temptations, and the larger is the measure of grace needed to keep him humble and spiritual; and he will meet with more painful experiences and humble dispensations. We have little cause to glory in any gifts bestowed on us or to despise those who have them not.” – (Taken from Matthew Henry’s Concise Commentary athttp://biblehub.com/1_corinthians/12-7.htm)

Is It Me or Is It You?

Religious Candles and CrossWords can weigh heavily on the heart when not expressed in the right way. I truly believe it’s in how and what you say. I couldn’t help but think on this very thing today. In view of all that keeps coming my way.

To go to God in prayer with your petition and request, with the understanding and belief that he knows what’s best. Will you understand when he sends discernment to guide you? When he sends an answer to the very thing that may be troubling you?

When you’re compelled to do the right thing God has set in your heart. Will you not do to please others when you know God placed the right answer in your heart? Will you fight against the righteousness you know shall prevail? Or will you hide in contempt and refuse to face your fear instead.

Can it be me? Or is it you? That works within me to do what I know God has called me to do. By confronting conflict even when it goes against what it may look like I’m trying to do to you.

People can be so judgmental and unrighteous when it concerns their vulnerability. They will choose to see only that which validates the person they think they are or should be. Why is it so hard to get others to see the God in you? To be honest, you really don’t need them to. When you know in your heart you are doing what he instructed you to do.

When motives are in the right place there should never be a “but” in answer to the question. For what it does is brings your credibility and your faith and trust in God under subjection. The intent is never to bring harm but to reveal truth and honesty. And send a message that you may open your eyes to the things you may be refusing to see.

God has a way of showing us things we are in denial of. He sends confirmation through experiences and circumstances we cannot avoid. It is up to us to take notice to the answer he sends. For, God is not a god of confusion, but of peace that always brings a happy ending.

If conflict still exists even when you’ve done your best to find resolve. Remember it is not of God. For, God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill? (Numbers 23:19) When God sends an answer, his righteousness shall prevail.

We cannot become confused or conflicted by what others say we should do. When we hear the voice of God, let this serve as confirmation to you. This applies to me too. For I know at times my actions may speak louder than my words. But my intent is to God, to remain true. To advise what he knows is best for you.

I don’t take this responsibility lightly. I go to God first. I ask him for discernment and guidance to lead me so that I may not hurt … others. It is never my intent to bring harm or ridicule. I have faults but it will never lead me to do … this. It would be absolutely remiss.

I’ve learned to take time out and examine my actions that are not in alignment with you … God. When things I struggle with becomes hard. And in doing so, I have to remove myself from them and the circumstance I seem to continually face. In order to recompense for my sins I may have unknowingly placed.

No matter how much people may confuse this with my reacting in the wrong way. God knows it’s the best way I try to handle things so that I may change. Yet, I find that in order to change I must go to God and meditate. I must seek him first to lead me the right way.

I know God knows all that we may go through. He will send an answer even when it doesn’t look like it to me or you.

I shall never underestimate the power of God regardless of the obstacles I may face. I will stand on His Word to run the race.

Ask yourself this question, is it me or is it you? Take a look at yourself. Through self-examination I hope you find an answer that aligns with God’s truth.

Be blessed! –JD

Who Are We To Judge?

Why is it every time I travel to see my doctor I find myself in conversation with the taxi driver defending the position of people who can no longer defend themselves? I have to wonder if this is something God is trying to bring to my attention in a certain area of my life. I won’t ignore it.

As I am riding home minding my own business, falling asleep in the back seat, the driver starts the conversation about the latest news story, the sad double-suicide of Kansas City Chief football player Jovan Belcher and his girlfriend Kassandra Perkins.

He was listening to the radio when the announcer made a statement that Mr. Belcher was a “bad guy.” The driver seconded the notion and said he definitely was a bad guy for committing such a cruel act.

He went on to say, “This guy had a career as a professional football player, money many of us couldn’t dream of having, and a beautiful girlfriend.” “He had it all. He was good until this happened.”

Now that he has killed himself and his girlfriend, he’s a bad guy. He said, “He was a coward because he killed not only himself but his girlfriend too. He was bad.”

Then, while I am not sure why, he proposed this assumption: “Maybe once he shot his girlfriend, he realized he would go to jail where he would spend the rest of his life so he turned the gun on himself.”

Me: Silence. You could hear a pin drop. Really didn’t want to say anything because for one, I didn’t want to speculate because we don’t know his reason for doing what he did or the process he chose which led up to the event. Two, does it really matter why he did it? Three, is it any of our business? I couldn’t give an answer yet.

”With my eyes closed, drowsy and a bit delirious, I said to myself, “Oh no. Here we go again.” My first thought was, “I’m too tired to engage in conversation with this man” but when he seconded the announcers’ statement categorizing this person as a “bad guy” without knowing anything about him. As well as stereotyping as society tend to do just because he was considered some famous person with money, I couldn’t help but offer my opinion. I listened before responding so as not to impose any judgment but be clear in my position on the matter.

I told him I didn’t think it was fair to call him a “bad guy” just because he committed a senseless act. I made it clear that we should not be quick to judge people just because they do something awful or stereotype just because we think we know what their life is like based on society’s preconceived notions.

We don’t know what kind of person he was since none of us knew him personally. Nor do we know what could have caused him to commit such an act.

We don’t know what he was going through, where his mind was at the time of this occurrence, or what he was struggling with that may have caused his mind to convince him to follow through.

To draw a conclusion about someone based on an act, in my opinion, is unfair. And sadly, this is the way of our world. We judge, condemn, criticize, and hate others based on color, appearance, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, and by their actions. That in itself is cruel. This is what I believe.

Money and career don’t make a person as society would have us believe. Just because he was a professional football player doesn’t mean he didn’t have financial troubles, had mental struggles, or suffered in some area of his life. Just because he had a career doesn’t mean he had lots of money. Just because he had a beautiful girlfriend doesn’t mean he had it all.

He was human just like us. And I’m sure as a human, he had problems just as we do, if not deeper than most of us may experience. There could have been some deep-rooted problem of hopelessness, worthlessness, clinical depression, pain, or sadness. We will never know.

But what I do know based on my experience is when individuals are in such a state, irrational thoughts cloud their judgment and the mind becomes an easy target.

Delusions, hallucinations, and the likes exist and in some cases are hard to distinguish from reality. Some people are strong enough to fight against the voices, others not so strong which lead to acts such as this.

Fame and fortune isn’t easy. Nor is it everything. It comes at a price. One cannot live a normal life. Money doesn’t buy happiness. One cannot be completely satisfied or content with the idea of constantly spending and getting what they want, getting nothing in return. Love doesn’t really conquer all with humans. Unless it is genuine, true love as God loves.

In concluding my conversation with this guy, my last statement to him was this, “I believe in God. I don’t think it is ever fair to judge a person because of what they do even if it isn’t right but we must leave it up to God. He will place judgment.” There was silence the rest of the ride until I reached my final destination. All was well that ended well.

My final thought. We can never know what others are going through. We must not condemn based on a notion. But instead pray for the family, friends, and society in general that peace and healing is found. Pray for strength. Pray for discernment. Pray.

As humans, we all will become discouraged at some point in our lives. The Bible has many Biblical characters that experienced discouragement and prayed to die. But they chose not to follow through. Instead, they remained obedient to God, sought his help, trusted Him, and relied on Him for deliverance. God provided them with a solution; just as he is able to do for us.

1 Corinthians 10:13 NKJV “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.”

Take these simple words of advice. Don’t be condescending but learn to have compassion. There are people hurting. A small gesture can save a life. Don’t be judgmental but leave it up to God. Your opinion matters and can be expressed in the right way as long as it doesn’t offend or hurt others. Acknowledge in love. Don’t take matters into your own hands but trust in the power of God that he will provide a way out. God is your source. He is a present help. Trust him.

And finally,

Matthew 7:1-2 “Judge not, that you be not judge. For with judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you. http://bible.us/Matt7.1-2.NKJV
