Preparation Comes Before Elevation. Hold On. Your Breakthrough is Coming!

Stand JoaynnWhat If I told you God is a restorer, would you believe me? What If I told you He is a deliverer, would you doubt his ability? His promise is his Word. Believe him. Won’t he do it!

A strong indication of spiritual growth is when you lean totally on God for strength, no matter the circumstance. You choose to respond to situations according to God’s Word and not react based on your emotions. God is doing something through you in the trial. He is trying to teach you something. Take note, learn the lesson. Apply the Word of God to your life, no matter the storm. Find your purpose.

Each and every one of us will go through or have gone through trials that left us wondering why, never understanding God’s plan. Yet in the trial, we discover the kind of faith we truly have. Tests, trials, tribulations, and troubles are not meant to break us but are designed to help us grow. It is where we find our purpose. No matter the circumstance, know that God is there in the midst of your trouble. Humble yourself before the Lord. Have faith. God will take care of it. Trust him.

Be encouraged today. God made a way out of no way. Praise God! You’re still standing. The glory of the Lord is our strength. We can do all things through Christ Jesus. Have faith. He who began a good work in you will complete it. We will never understand when God does what he does. Stop trying to make sense of what he does. Trust Him even when it doesn’t make sense. God got this!

If you’re believing God for something and it seems like it’s taking too long, don’t give up. Hold on. Preparation comes before elevation. God wants what’s best for you. He has to prepare you before he promotes you. Keep doing the right thing. Trust God. His grace is sufficient.

Repeat after me, I’m not defined by my past. I’m a child of God. Fearfully and wonderfully made. I know who I am. I’m more than a conqueror!

Be blessed! – JD

Philippians 4:12-13 “I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me.” (ESV)

Serving God is An Honor. It’s A Privilege. Be Thankful To God For the Privilege of Being In A Ministry

Blessed By GodForgive me for the long post but the other day in my time of reflection, I woke with some things that were unsettling in my spirit and thought I’d share.

I believe that God works through his people to accomplish impossible tasks that may seem impossible to us. God knows what it takes to do what he’s prepared for us. He often shapes us with experiences and training that prepares us for his purpose.

All Christians are called to ministry. However, being in a ministry doesn’t mean we are entitled to serve ourselves and in the process, claim a title. It means we serve God by serving others. We are speaking and serving directly on His behalf to others. We trade selfishness for selflessness. We bring glory to God. We bring honor to Him and not ourselves.

We have no idea what God has in store for us. In our service, we must be obedient. We must be careful not to become complacent or comfortable in our daily routine when placing priorities on things we did before we made the decision to serve God. We must put into action what we learn from his Word. Faith without works is dead. God wants our obedience. We remove “self” out of the equation. We change our mindset. We change the way we used to do things in order that we may bring glory to him.

Too many times we make it a point to get to work on time, never miss a day, and push ourselves beyond limits to get the job done. But choose not to be as dedicated and obedient to God as we are to our friends, family, employers, or loved ones. Failing to realize had it not been for God, we wouldn’t have a job. Or anything else for that matter.

If what we know about God to be true, there are no excuses why we choose to do what we do because we have been conditioned to do it. Yes, we learn. But we must also grow. We change our priorities to accomplish tasks He has prepared for us and positioned us to do. And if in the beginning, we know what God’s Word tells us is true, we will begin the process by doing, not what we want, but what he desires we do. Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. (2 Cor 5:17)

When we learn and are assured of what God desires from us, in our service, we must walk the walk and talk the talk the right way to do that which pleases him. Walk with, and not away from God. When you talk with God and walk with God, you can become useful to Him. Welcome him into your thoughts and share your feelings, your concerns, and your dreams. Walk with him and put what you learn from his Word into action.

Blessed by God is not by your works, not an entitlement, nor can it be earned. It is a gift from God. You’re blessed to be a blessing to others. When God blesses you, don’t curse your blessings because you did not honor him when you chose to complain. Be a blessing to others. Glorify Him.

We cannot serve two masters. Make a choice. Either you will serve God or serve yourself.

Be blessed! – JD

Colossians 3:23,24 “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, 24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.”(ESV)

Seek God’s Face and Not His Hand. Don’t Wait Until Trouble Comes To Be In His Presence. Seek God’s Help Beforehand. It Will Prepare You To Handle The Test

Seek God's FaceToo often when our backs are against the wall, we allow pride to get in our way and will lose sight of God. We start looking at our circumstances and begin thinking of ways to find a temporary solution to the problem. We rely on ourselves and only seek God for what he can do for us with the wrong motives.

We think we have things all figured out and will handle it on our own. We seek God’s hands and what he can do for us instead of seeking his face to be in his presence. Forgetting he already knows what he will do. We get in his way and will interrupt what he is already prepared to do. He’s waiting on us to trust him and believe he will do what he promised.

Didn’t God say he will supply ALL our needs? How much more proof do we need? If he said it, believe him. He has already worked out what we need before we ask him. We may think desperate times sometimes call for desperate measures but it doesn’t mean we have to give in to temptation when thinking irrationally. We have to learn to trust God when our backs are against the wall. Be in His presence every day before trouble comes.

Don’t try to work things out on your own. Don’t just run to God when you experience trouble. Seek God’s face to be in his presence beforehand. He will handle it.

Be blessed! – JD

Know The Difference Between True And False Discernment. Don’t Fall Prey To Masked Deception

True Discernment JoaynnGod doesn’t use ministers of the gospel or witnesses to pick and choose who the Word applies to. It speaks to every situation no matter who you are. God’s grace offers salvation to everyone (Titus 2:11).

The gospel is for everyone. However, it is up to you to recognize when it does and not blame others because you fail to see what is in the heart of another when blinded by your own flaws.

Although all of our situations are different, the Word in any instance applies to each and every one of us and can be applied to every area of our lives; if and when we allow it. People often confuse true discernment with false discernment marked by a false perception of reality, criticism, judgment, lack of trust, lack of faith characterized by an inability to love with God’s love. Tarnished by past experiences if they possibly may not have truly healed.

Stop misinterpreting the message when you don’t want to hear or admit the truth about yourself. Learn the difference between true discernment and false discernment. The gift of discernment is the ability to recognize what is genuine from what is deception; what is of God from what is not of God. Know the difference. ‪#‎randomthought

God Shifted Some Things In Your Favor To Get You Where You Are. Don’t Regret Change. You Couldn’t Remain the Same Person

God I Thank You JoaynnWhen you are in transition and your breakthrough is getting close, you can tell because you’re not your usual self. You get easily aggravated. You may feel helpless. Things that never use to irritate you will and people who never mattered to you matter.

Don’t let it discourage you. God is shifting you. When it seems like you are at your worst, God sends a miracle. A ram in the bush with provision. Praise and worship God. Keep your mind stayed on Jesus.

Before you could get to where God was taking you some things had to change. You couldn’t get to where you are by staying the same person. Thank God for molding you into the person you now are from who you used to be. You couldn’t remain the same person. God shaped you to prepare you for your destiny.

Say this with me, God I thank you for molding me into who I am from who I used to be because had it not been for who I was I wouldn’t be who I am today.

Be blessed! – JD

I Thought Of You and Said A Prayer For You Today. I Asked God to Give You Rest. Let Not Your Heart Not Be Troubled. It’s In His Hands. He Will Handle It.

I Thought OF You JoaynnMy heart has been heavy and I still am in shock since hearing of the senseless killings in Charleston, South Carolina that occurred last week. Hearing of all the precious lives that were lost made me weak. It literally brought me to my knees. I fervently prayed. God hears prayers of the righteous. I ask that you do the same.

In the face of adversity and uncertainty, stay strong. My prayers are with the families and victims of this senseless tragedy. All lives matter.

I thought of you and said a prayer for you today. Father I come to you in the name of Jesus not asking for anything and thanking you in advance for everything. Go through every house. Place the enemy under our feet. Cancel every assignment. Command him to flee. Whatever the enemy sends return it back to the sender, unsigned, sealed and undelivered.

The nation is in an uproar. Too many senseless killings. There is too much going on in this dark, cold world. Let there be peace, unity. The Lord is our shepherd. Heal families who have lost loved ones and are hurting everywhere. We need you Lord now more than ever.

God please help us. We are living in the last days. If you don’t know Jesus I pray you seek and find him today. He’s coming back soon. Stay prayed up. Come into a right relationship with God. Be ready when Jesus returns.

Father you know what it is we need. Dispatch your angels. God send healing, deliverance, strength in your provision. Let us not lose trust in Your Divine Providence. Place a shield of protection around us. Let no hurt, harm or danger come. We are covered by the blood of Jesus.

I come against every lying tongue that rise against us shall not prosper. We are more than conquerors. Send fresh anointing as we make our way. Lord Jesus have your way in this place today. “For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayer. But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil” (1 Peter 3:12).

Father God I thank you, glorify you, and magnify your name. Bless your name Lord. Bless your name. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. #PrayForCharleston #CharlestonStrong

Be blessed! –JD

Psalm 23: 1-6 “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. 3 He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. 4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” (ESV)

Hello Fear, Let Me Introduce Myself. My Name Is Victory But I Go By Faith. I’m Fearless. Nice To Meet You!

Hello Fear JoaynnTo my old friend Fear, sorry I sent you away. I could no longer live afraid every day. I had to take a stand. I couldn’t keep myself bound. Always fearing what would happen every time something in my life changed.

I had to let you go so I could move forward. And not be afraid to live a better life God promised would be rewarding.

There was a time in my life when I couldn’t sleep at night worrying about any and everything. I couldn’t rest. I was so tired from so many sleepless nights and kept wishing one day it would end. Oftentimes I blamed myself because I was so busy trying to figure things out on my own. Only to find when I did, I failed miserably at it.

I sought God only after I made a total mess of things. I knew God but my faith was fair-weathered and flaky. It fluctuated depending on how things would go in my life. If everything worked out as I thought it should, my faith was enormous. But when things didn’t work out in my favor, my faith went out the window.

As I got older and found myself yearning for a deeper and closer relationship with God, I noticed how some things began to change in my life. I found myself studying and meditating more on God’s Word. I learned I didn’t need to pray outlandish prayers for God to hear me. I learned how to simply pray and thank God in everything, no matter how big or small. My faith in God grew stronger.

One day when my faith was greatly tested, I decided to use the strength God gave me and turned fear into faith. I had to release fear that day. I sat in darkness and sang out loud to myself, Fear, fear go away. Sorry, you can’t come back another day. One day I will happily report with praise I found a new friend. What a friend I have in Jesus!

It took me some time to learn this but I thought of and keep reminding myself daily of this: Fear paralyzes. God promotes. Don’t be crippled by your circumstances. Get out the boat. Your steps are ordered by the Lord. Walk by faith and not by sight.

I am no longer afraid of the dark. I have a new faith walk. I reintroduced myself to fear with my new name. I said this to him: Hello Fear! Let me introduce myself. My name is VICTORY but I go by FAITH. I’m fearless. Nice to meet you! I’m fearfully and wonderfully made. I am VICTORIOUS!

Take it from me, when nothing makes sense have no fear. Activate your faith. Operate like it’s already done. Believe God for supernatural blessings.

Be blessed! – JD

Psalm 56: 1-4 “Be gracious to me, O God, for man tramples on me; all day long an attacker oppresses me; 2 my enemies trample on me all day long, for many attack me proudly. 3 When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. 4 In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can flesh do to me?” (ESV)

God I Want To Take A Moment To Not Ask For Anything And Simply Say Thank You For Everything

Brand New Mercies JoaynnThank you Lord for loving me even when I fail you. I love you. The greater our burdens, you give us more grace. Thank you for your saving grace.

Thank you for loving me. I’m amazed by the depth of your love for me. It is as wide as the ocean, deep as the sea. It is a never ending story. Your love is steadfast and never fails. It is everlasting. Thank you Jesus.

Lord you are good. Your mercy endures forever. I’m grateful. Let me decrease; let You increase that I may bring You glory. As I walk with you, let my light shine so bright that when people see me, they see Jesus in me.

I just want to take a moment not to ask for anything and thank you for everything. Thank you God. Your grace kept us. We’re still standing. You woke us in our right minds. You started us on our way. You granted brand new mercies when we didn’t deserve it. We give you all the glory. Lord if you never do anything else for us, you’ve done enough. Lord we thank you.

Be blessed! –JD

Psalm 100: 1-5 “Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth! 2 Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing! 3 Know that the Lord, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. 4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! 5 For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.” (ESV)

Consider Trouble A Blessing And Not A Curse. God Is Preparing You For Your Future. Declare, I’m Walking In My Destiny. I Got The Victory!

You're A Victor JoaynnWhen you go through the unspeakable you will find out who your true friends are. You will know who God is and learn who you truly are.

See, before storms in life present itself to us we have an idea of what we are made of. But when the storm comes, we cannot imagine who we may become. We may rely on people to approve, accept, and acknowledge us believing this is what we need to become who we will be. However, none of it is necessary.

When going through the trial and our faith is tested, we learn about ourselves. God shows us who he is. We may never understand the season we’re in but we learn of God’s power and sovereignty while in it. He is preparing us for what he already knows; our future. He’s pruning, refining, shaping us for what’s to come. Be grateful.

Adversity reveals character. Trials make us stronger. Thank God for the trials and the people who left you. Everybody can’t go with you. No matter what season you may find yourself in, God is all you need. He approves of you. Believe.

Be blessed! – JD

Is God Only Your God Nearby And Not Your God Far Away? Trouble Don’t Last Always. Stop Thinking Of God As A Neighborhood god. He Is Omnipresent. He Is Always In Your Neighborhood

All Things Are Possible JoaynnAs believers we are representatives of God and are responsible only to God. God holds us accountable for our actions. We cannot do this thing called life on our own without him. Recognize your limitations. Admit when you need him.

Oftentimes when situations occur that are out of our control we tend to place God in a box and will question his ability to handle things beyond our control. When things are not going as well as we expect, we run down the streets and around the corners looking for him. Forgetting he’s always in our neighborhood. He is omnipresent. He is everywhere. We may not be able to trace him. Trust him.

To think God does not know or even cares about situations in our lives is to make the mistake of placing limits and restrictions on him. God is omniscient. He is all-knowing. He does not need us to speak, act, or think for him. Is he only a God nearby and not a God far away? (Jeremiah 23:23). How big is the God you worship? Is he bigger than your problems, your circumstances, your situation, your sickness, your friends, your family, or your issues? Who is the leader of your worship?

Don’t mock God. Don’t think of him as a neighborhood god. He is not limited to just local neighborhoods. Take the limits off of him. Be on high alert every day. You may never know when He will come down your street in your neighborhood and pay you a visit. Be ready.

Ask yourself these questions the next time you find yourself facing a hopeless or troubling situation. What corner will you be turning or what side of the street will you be on when God shows up to visit?

Remind yourself who God is. He is omnipotent. He has all power. Put your trust in God. No matter the situation or any manner of sickness or disease or loss, know God is a healer. He will fix it. He is a heart fixer, mind regulator, and an ever-present help. Put everything in his hands. He will handle it.

Be blessed! – JD

God Is A Just God. He Will Do Just As He Promised. No Matter The Circumstance Have Faith. The Enemy Has Already Been Defeated!

Stay In The Faith JoaynnRain falls on the just and the unjust. None of us are exempt. Sometimes God uses trouble to lead us in the right direction. Trust Him.

God is a just God. We are the righteousness of God. The enemy has already been defeated. Stand firm. Nothing can defeat God’s purpose for us.

There will be difficult times when nothing makes sense to us. It feels like God is distant. It is not for us to understand why things happen as they do but for us to trust God when we are going through.

God hears the prayers of the righteous. He hears every prayer, sees every tear, and knows when our hearts are troubled. He is in the midst. He promises to make it all better.

Life can weigh us down but Jesus tells us not to worry he will give us rest. God knows everything we are going through. Nothing is hidden from him. Cast all your cares upon the Lord and he will give you rest.

Storms will come and rain will flow like a river but it will not last forever. God has not forgotten you. It’s not the end. God is the same today and yesterday and forever. God promises to never leave us or forsake us. You’re not alone. Whatever we go through, he will bring us through it.

God will calm the storm. God will make the enemy pay for bringing the trouble. He will go before you and fight your battles. Push through the trials, tribulations, and pain. Don’t live life defeated. Trust Him.

Don’t let the weight of your troubles crush your spirit where you want to give up. God is faithful. It’s not over until God says it is over. You may fall down. God will raise you up. What doesn’t kill you will make you stronger. Stay in the faith. You’re still standing.

Be blessed! –JD

Matthew 5:43 – 45 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

When Jesus Said, “It Is Finished” It Is Done. Didn’t He Complete The Work God Gave Him To Do? Believe Him!

God's Faithfulness JoaynnJesus says, “It is finished.” It is done. There’s no need to wait for something more to happen. No matter how hopeless the situation looks, believe him. Let His will be done. Let Him finish his work. Stop taking matters into your own hands trying to finish what God started.

Jesus came and finished what God sent him to earth to do. He completed the job God gave him to do. He didn’t take matters into his own hands. He followed God’s plan. He didn’t come to abolish the law. He came to fulfill the law.

Too often when we try to figure things out on our own, we want what we want when we want it and will do whatever it takes to get what we want. We become impatient and want immediate results. It’s easy to convince ourselves we can do God’s job better than him. We’re in a hurry. “God is taking too long.” Slow down. Be patient.

God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it? (Numbers 23:19) He keeps his word. Believe him.

Whatever you are meant to have, God will give you the desires of your heart. Wait on God to complete it. When life doesn’t work out like you want it to, trust God’s faithfulness. It ain’t finished until He says it’s finished. It is done. Believe him!

Be blessed! – JD

I Got A New Perspective. I’m Renaming My Valleys Today. God is Taking Me Through The Valley of Blessing!

wpid-img_20150415_153005.jpgThe past three months have been extremely exhausting to the point where I wanted to throw in the towel and give up. I’ve been going through some major things with my health, devastating pain that I cannot even put a name to. Weariness and not remembering things to the point where I haven’t been able to share or think of things to say to bless others about how good my God is. At times, only sharing a simple word or thought to ease my own fears and still be a blessing to someone.

With all that I am going through, I’ve been extremely discouraged. Yet being the person I am, I couldn’t let it stop me. I’m persistent, strong-willed, and determined. I persevered. Every day I kept trying. But today of all days was the last straw. The devil came and tried to steal my joy.

Early in the wee hours of the morning, before my feet hit the ground the enemy pounced on me like a raging storm. Attacking me from the north, south, east, and west. He wouldn’t leave me alone. It was one of the most frustrating mornings I have had in a long time. Nothing was going right. I said, “Oh my goodness!” My world seemed dark, filled with despair and hopelessness. I felt helpless.

I started hearing voices telling me, “You will never reach your destiny. You will never accomplish your dream. You’re failing at just about everything. Look at yourself. Where is your help?” I told him, “You messed with the wrong person today! I refuse to believe the lies you are telling. I’m not listening. I’ve had enough. I rebuke that spirit of failure, defeat, and discouragement”. I immediately got on my knees and prayed to God. I felt better after I talked with God. And although nothing changed immediately, I could sense in my heart God was with me.

As I tried to find strength to begin simple tasks only to feel defeated again or gain motivation to get on track, I couldn’t. I needed God’s strength. I opened my Bible to read the book of Jeremiah, chapter 22. I looked at the first verse and for reasons I cannot explain, something alerted my attention to Joel Osteen’s broadcast I stopped in the middle of listening to the other day because I had to attend one of many doctor appointments I had this week. The message, “The Valley of Blessing”.

I thought, how ironic. Believing it was not a coincidence. I said, “Thank you God.” I needed to hear this! I said to him, God this is why I love you soooo much! You know exactly what I need when I need it. You will send a word that speaks to my situation to guide, encourage, bless, and deliver me from evil that surrounds me. That I may know everything will be all right, even in the valley.

Pastor Osteen had a lot to say and I wish I could put everything here but I can’t so I will share this. He said, “In every valley you’re gaining something. There is a purpose. Nothing happens by accident. Stand still and you will see the victory. Don’t complain about the valley. Have this new perspective. There’s a blessing in the valley.

Perhaps you’re in the valley of sickness and could easily be discouraged (Yes that’s me). It’s only temporary (Glory!). Don’t settle (I won’t). It’s going to turn into a valley of health and strength (Praise the Lord). You may not understand it right now but learn this. “God doesn’t move the valley. He will bless you in it.” No matter the circumstance, He will deliver you in it.

I started reflecting over my life journey and realized what I was missing. Although I may have been in the valley for almost eleven years, I am assured there’s a purpose. If it wasn’t going to turn out for my good, God wouldn’t never have led me to it.

Just because I lost some things including my passion, independence, pride, and dignity, God would restore these things and more back to me. I came to understand I wasn’t dealing with trivial things but with something critical to my destiny. The valley was preparing me for something greater. Glory hallelujah!

I learned my experiences were for my benefit. I gained something that would be instrumental in reaching my destiny. Experience and confidence opened the door to new beginnings. I may have faced challenges that seem insurmountable but what came to me as a surprise, this time the challenge is even bigger. It’s like something I have never experienced before. Thank God! I’m getting closer to my destiny.

When the enemy comes to kill, steal, and destroy, I will declare how great my God is. No weapon formed against me shall prosper. I’m more than a conqueror. Trouble don’t last always. This problem did not come to stay. It will come to pass one day. God will show up and show out. He will see me through this. He will fight my battle. I am in the valley of blessing.

God, you gave me a vision. I know this was your plan. Even when I don’t understand why this is happening to me or it doesn’t make sense, I will stand. I served the devil notice today. I told him I’m renaming my valleys today. I’m calling them one by one. Valley of defeat is valley of victory. All the valleys of sickness and disease, I’m renaming it to valley of restoration and health. Valley of death, struggle, and lack, I’m taking my rightful names back. You will be known as the valley of abundance, promotion, increase. I will decrease that God may increase.

I got a new perspective. I will get my passion back. I am victorious. I am triumphant. I will not be discouraged. My breakthrough is on the way. I will stay in the faith. I won’t let nothing stop me. What God has for me is for me!

For anyone who is in the valley this message of hope and inspiration is for you. Rest assured. God will see you through. You may be struggling. Know this, whatever God starts he finishes. Your situation may seem hopeless. It ain’t over until God says it’s over. Don’t be discouraged. When God says it is finished, it’s done. Trust Him. Count it all joy!

Be blessed! –JD

2 Chronicles 20:26-27 On the fourth day they assembled in the Valley of Beracah, for there they blessed the LORD. Therefore the name of that place has been called the Valley of Beracah to this day. 27 Then they returned, every man of Judah and Jerusalem, and Jehoshaphat at their head, returning to Jerusalem with joy, for the LORD had made them rejoice over their enemies.” (ESV)

A Reprobate Mind is Not Worth the Trouble. Are You So Heavenly Bound But No Earthly Good? Do You Do What You Ought Not To Do Because It Feels Good?

wpid-img_20141209_084242.jpgIt can be so hard to try and convince people to do the right thing when they are so convinced they are doing the wrong thing right. It’s not your fight. Let go and let God. Let Him do what he does.

Mark 12:30 tells us, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.” Jesus said this is the first and greatest commandment; to love God with all of ourselves. Not half, not a portion, not a piece of, or just some. We are to love him with all of us.

One of the most difficult things to understand as a Christian is the actions, thoughts, and words of others who believe somewhere in the back of their minds they are perfect. Not only do they think they are perfect but see nothing wrong with who they are. As such, will refuse to change who they are.

To allow yourself to dwell on the actions of others only to become disappointed in their failures, is an epic fail. In reality, you are robbing yourself. Of happiness, joy, and peace. Accept the fact that you can’t change them. People will always disappoint you. Regardless of what they do, you must not let it define you.

I know you are saying, “It’s easier said than done.” And when surrounded by extenuating circumstances and forces that are not in your control, it can be hard to handle. That’s when you must let go and let God. Don’t allow the actions of others bring you to the point of self-destruction or do as the evildoer does. God knows best. Do what you can that is in your control and let God handle the rest.

God gives us free will to choose the manner which we place priorities and what we value in our lives. When we become so occupied with things and people we believe are priorities, we miss the mark. We manage and continue with our desired lifestyle, but don’t understand we run the risk of developing a reprobate mindset.

We live for ourselves. We think contrary of the word of God. Our thoughts are focused on us and not first and foremost on God. Our thoughts are no longer his thoughts. We stray away from God’s wisdom, knowledge, and his thoughts. We become worldlier and will stunt our spiritual growth. We know the word but choose not to live it, believe it, or even apply it. We are comfortable with half-way or hardly ever, if not never, abiding by it.

We are in denial of our own lost identity. Comfortable with just getting by. In our minds, all is well because we have all that WE desire. As long as life is going as we planned, we don’t see anything wrong with us. After all, we still got things and will do that which pleases us. We have a job, a place to live, food to eat, clothes on our back, and shoes on our feet. Not realizing it’s not because of us. It’s because of God’s unmerited grace and mercy even when we don’t deserve it. His grace saves us.

There is not a person on earth who will not experience hardship, loss, or a change in their lifestyle at some point in their life that will be beyond their control. It’s inevitable. But what will be the most difficult thing to understand is how to handle it when it does happen. All you can do is pray until something happens.

Material things will not last forever. And don’t be surprised when you lose them. Don’t find a reason to blame God. For his word says in Leviticus 19:4 “Do not turn to idols or make gods of cast metal for yourselves. I am the Lord your God.”

When jobs, people, material things, and anything but God becomes a priority, that thing becomes a form of idolatry. And believe it or not, there will be consequences when you idolize what you’ve made a priority.

Oftentimes, when God disciplines us and we don’t like it, we are convinced he got it all wrong. We refuse to see the error of our ways and believe the correction was clearly not meant for us. But you see, when you live a life filled with confusion, chaos, and conflict, without ever thinking something needs to change, you fail to recognize the power of God, and that something will change.

You may go about your way doing the same things, finding some form of normalcy because everything continues to go as planned. But trust me, at some point it will all change. In any circumstance, God will see to it that you change.

No matter what people do or how they may disappoint me, I will always believe there is some good in each of us. But what I struggle with is how we profess to know God, love God, trust God, yet we deny our privilege when we fail to please him. We fail to show him what we profess. Instead we live a life in denial of what’s not right because of our own countenance.

There are some folks so heavenly bound but no earthly good. Church folk, friend folk, and family folk are included. Don’t be so caught up in titles that you forget who is in charge. Don’t be so saved and spiritual that you are so judgmental. God is our only judge. Stop trying to do his job. Let him do best what he does.

Let people do what they do. Give it to God. He will do exactly what he promised in his word. Don’t allow yourself to be so far removed from the promises of God that you develop a reprobate mindset. Look to God. Stay focused. Remind yourself of God’s knowledge, wisdom, and his thoughts. Develop the mind of Christ Jesus.

We must learn to accept the fact that we can never do what God knows best. We can’t change people. God can. They also have to want to change themselves. They have to one day want to face the truth about themselves. Change your mindset. A reprobate mind isn’t worth the trouble. “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth” (Romans 1:18).

In all you do, get an understanding. Actions of a reprobate mind will lead to unfavorable consequences. Be intentional. Find the good in any and everything. Use it to lift up the kingdom. Let the word of God rule your thoughts, actions, and decisions. And if you are not sure about what to do, do what you know will please Him. Search your heart. Seek the action that will demonstrate love for God and love for others. Love as God loves others. Do what you know should be done, and not what you know ought not to be done.

Be blessed! –JD

Romans 1:28 “Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done.” (NIV)

When The Devil Starts Bothering You, Cut Him Off. Praise Your Way Through. Give Glory to God!

wpid-img_20150103_074952.jpgThe devil is always bothering me, 365 days a year. But he won’t win; EVER. I’m still standing. There’s a reason God still has me here.

No matter what the devil tries to do to discourage me or frustrate my purpose, his mission will be aborted! Nothing will stop me. He will not have the victory. No matter what happens, in everything, I will praise my way through. There’s still a work for me to do.

Thank you Lord! I know you’re still on my side. You gave me life. You opened my eyes. To see yet again another day. Ready to face whatever comes my way. I got a portion of my health, strength, and a sound mind. To do the impossible, no matter how strong the tide.

You’ve given me brand new life to see, that you still care for me. I won’t worry. I won’t fret. My being here says you’re not through with me yet. My faith is renewed. My mind’s clear. I will run the race. I won’t have no fear.

There are days when my heart is in pain. Can’t think, can’t speak. Wondering when my life will be the same. Yet, I know it will never be. But what I do know, you have me in the place right where I need to be. So that I may bring you glory while riding through the storm. No weapon formed against me will prosper. I have the favor of God. God is sovereign.

I may not be sure of a lot of things but what I am assured of, God you got me! I already know. Sometimes my mind and heart may not be with the flow. Forgive me, I’m human. Every day I fail. I may sin every day and fall short of the glory of God but your strength against the enemy will always prevail.

I may never understand the entire plan you have for me. All I need to know is that you love me unconditionally. So today I give thanks for breath and life. I have victory, in spite of strife. God you are the Author and Finisher of my faith. I know it’s never in my timing… I will wait. I will praise you in advance. Thank you Jesus!

Be encouraged today. When you feel weak, let God be your strength. When enemies come against you, let God be your protection. In times of trouble he will help you.

Be the light that shines so bright that when people see you, they see the light of Jesus Christ in you.  Let the world know how good God has been to you!

When the devil starts bothering you, cut him off. Don’t give him the time of day. Praise your way through. Keep your mind stayed on Jesus.

Be blessed! -JD

Aren’t You Glad You Don’t Look Like What You’ve Been Through? I Am! Glory Hallelu!

wpid-img_20141230_082638.jpgWhen you meet with new trials and it seems difficult, remember how good God has been to you. He’s able. God’s faithfulness will sustain you.

Be bold in your prayers. Come to God with audacious faith. Don’t let one circumstance stop your praise. Trust God. Life will be worth living.

Growth is a process. It doesn’t happen on its own. You must be willing to change. Not just you but your mindset and attitude has to change too.

When surrounded by chaos, confusion and you can’t see the forest for the trees, keep your mind stayed on Jesus. He’ll keep you in perfect peace.

Every day you rise, take a look in the mirror, thank God, and say to yourself, “I’m glad I don’t look like what I’ve been through because I’d look like hell.”

The favor of God is on you. He anointed and appointed you. You’ve been tried and tested. Approved by God. Rejoice! It’s your season of elevation.

Be blessed! -JD

Gentle Reminder Lest We Forget

wpid-img_20141009_174323.jpgTake up your cross daily. Deny self. God is faithful even when we are faithless. Be willing to give up everything to please God. Follow Jesus.

Lord help me to love like you love, forgive like you forgive. Help me to never forget your sacrifice that I may follow your perfect example.

Be blessed! -JD

They Persecuted Jesus – They Will Also Persecute You

wpid-img_20140723_062114.jpgGod will take care of you. His grace abounds to you. He’s faithful. He will never leave you or forsake you.

The word of God tells us what suffering can do for us. Trials strengthen us. We may suffer along the way. Through Christ, God gives us the victory.

They lied on Jesus. They persecuted him. That didn’t stop him. Jesus died on the cross for us. If God be for us, who can be against us?

People may persecute you. They may even lie on you. Whether you fail or succeed, people still will talk about you. Give them something to talk about. Be the light. Let them see Jesus in you. Shine bright! Jesus said, “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake for theirs is the kingdom of heaven” (Matt 5:10).

Be blessed! -JD

John 15:20“Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours.” (ESV)

Don’t Give Up. God Won’t Give Up On You. He Will Complete the Work He Begun in You

wpid-img_20140613_003405.jpgSometimes we will neglect ourselves and in doing so will neglect our spiritual life. In turn, it will cause us to stray. It’s okay. Don’t give up. God is a restorer. Glory!

People expect too much from believers and not enough from themselves. We too, are human and at times will fail. God’s love is unconditional.

For days, I found myself losing myself, neglecting my prayer life and spiritual devotion. Thoughts weighed heavily on my mind. I became dissatisfied because I was becoming who I knew I was long ago. I told the devil, you got to go!

I prayed hard and asked God to help me and reveal to me, things within myself I was failing to see. God is faithful. He revealed it to me. He sent the answer immediately, right away. I’m walking in newness. Today is a brand new day.

The devil cannot take away what dwells inside my spirit. At times, I may falter and fall by the wayside, but I know I’m filled with the Holy Spirit. God entrusted the good deposit to me. The Holy Spirit lives in me. I will guard it with my life. Come what may, the devil will not have his way in this place today!

I have been chosen by God for a purpose. To serve God is my purpose. Devil you’ve been served notice today. Flee! Get out of my way. God will have his way.

At times life can be hard. We may grow weary. Our devotional life may suffer when weary. When God seems far away, he’s only a prayer away.

When you’re not making progress in your spiritual life, don’t give up. God won’t give up on you. He will complete the work he begun in you.

Be blessed! -JD

Philippians 1:6 “For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.” (NASB)
