You Can’t Trace God. Yet Trust Him!

Side Of You JoaynnThere are some things that happen to us in life we question that do not have answers. We may never understand why some things happen. Yet will we trust God in spite of unanswered questions.

When we suffer we look for reasons to explain the “what” and “whys” and we ask God” why is this happening to me?” When really, sometimes there are no answers.

We must learn to accept it as such. But oftentimes we will blame God or better yet give the devil too much credit. It is not for us to understand everything that happens in life. Nor is it for us to understand reasons why we suffer. Some things are not meant for us to figure out but keep our faith and trust in God.

There are three things we can be assured of. Sometimes suffering happens and God allows it, in order to shape us, to be used for a special purpose by God for special service to others. Sometimes suffering is an attack by Satan on our lives we may never understand. And sometimes there are no answers to why we suffer. Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him (Job 13:15).

Hold on to your faith even when you can’t see God. We can’t trace him. Trust him. Satan will use the very moment of our suffering when we are weak and vulnerable to stir doubt in God and wants to cause us to lose faith in Him. But if we were to ask ourselves these questions, can we ever know.

If we didn’t suffer how then would our faith grow? If we didn’t go through trials whether temporary or enduring, there would be no room for growth. For every attack the enemy attempts on us, the greater our faith should become. When the attack is deeper than we’ve ever seen before, our faith should increase more.

How can we grow if we’re never tested? How can we grow if we never have troubles? How then will we know God if we never go through trials or tribulations? Don’t stagnate your growth. Consider it all joy when trouble comes. Faith produces perseverance. And here’s the good news! We have two choices, (1) we can curse God and give up or (2) we can trust God and draw from his strength to keep going.

God doesn’t make any mistakes. Testing is for a greater purpose. Glory in your suffering. Perseverance helps your faith grow, even in suffering. Remember, when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. “So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.” (James 1:3, 4).

No matter what situation you may find yourself in today, declare “Yet will I trust him. God I can’t trace you. I may never understand why things happen as they do because some things are not for me to understand. In spite of, yet will I trust him.”

Be Blessed! – JD

Job 23:8-10 “But if I go to the east, he is not there; if I go to the west, I do not find him. 9 When he is at work in the north, I do not see him; when he turns to the south, I catch no glimpse of him. 10 But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold.” (AMP)

When Jesus Said, “It Is Finished” It Is Done. Didn’t He Complete The Work God Gave Him To Do? Believe Him!

God's Faithfulness JoaynnJesus says, “It is finished.” It is done. There’s no need to wait for something more to happen. No matter how hopeless the situation looks, believe him. Let His will be done. Let Him finish his work. Stop taking matters into your own hands trying to finish what God started.

Jesus came and finished what God sent him to earth to do. He completed the job God gave him to do. He didn’t take matters into his own hands. He followed God’s plan. He didn’t come to abolish the law. He came to fulfill the law.

Too often when we try to figure things out on our own, we want what we want when we want it and will do whatever it takes to get what we want. We become impatient and want immediate results. It’s easy to convince ourselves we can do God’s job better than him. We’re in a hurry. “God is taking too long.” Slow down. Be patient.

God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it? (Numbers 23:19) He keeps his word. Believe him.

Whatever you are meant to have, God will give you the desires of your heart. Wait on God to complete it. When life doesn’t work out like you want it to, trust God’s faithfulness. It ain’t finished until He says it’s finished. It is done. Believe him!

Be blessed! – JD

The Depth of God’s Greatness is Unsearchable. We Can’t Trace Him. We May Never Understand His Plan. Trust Him

Depth Of God's Greatness JoaynnAs I sat reflecting on my past life and the person I used to be long ago who worried about any and everything, I started thinking how good God has been to me and began thanking Him for new beginnings. God has brought me a mighty long way. I am so grateful to God to be the person I am today.

I remember a time when I would stress over everything, no matter how big or small. There were many times I would not eat and lose sleep worrying about things that were not in my control. I tried to fix things on my own. But one day…..something changed and I figured out I couldn’t do it on my own. I started praying, meditating on the Word and calling out to God. I sought his intervention. When things were not in my control, I learned to accept it. I gave it all to God. I didn’t worry about a thing. I left it in his hands. I turned my life over to God and I have not been the same ever since. My life changed for the better. Thank you Lord. I am grateful.

I don’t waste time worrying anymore. Even though there are times, not many, when I am stressed oftentimes I don’t even realize that I am. If it weren’t for telltale signs in my body indicating stress, I would never know it.

Here’s a simple word of advice to ease your fears when you find yourself at a crossroad and in a dilemma. I hope it helps you. Don’t spend time worrying, stressed about things you cannot change. Turn worry into worship, stressing into blessings. Give it to God. Count your blessings. He will handle it.

We may never understand the depth of God’s greatness. Stop placing limitations on God, leaving him only one option because of your stubbornness and disobedience. God’s greatness is unsearchable. We can’t trace Him. Even when you don’t understand his plan, trust Him.

Be blessed! –JD

Isaiah 40:28, 29 “Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. 29 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.” (NIV)

When You Feel Stuck, Take Off Your Shoes, Pull Them Out of The Cracks. Keep It Moving!

Keep It Moving JoaynnGod never said this life journey would be easy. He promises a life lived for him will be worth it. He says in his word he will never leave us or forsake us. His presence will always be with us.

Thank God for the journey. It was meant for you. God promised to restore, elevate, and promote you. He will teach, discipline, refine and mold you into the person He designed you to be. In all things, God will get the glory.

You will face challenges. Trials and tribulations are to be expected. It’s who you will choose to trust when going through it. God is all-knowing. He knows and understands all that you are going through. Trust him. He will do just what he said he will do.

Praise God in the good and the bad. When you don’t understand what’s happening or it doesn’t make sense, STAND. Give it to God. He is bigger than our problems. Great is our God. No manner of sickness, disease, obstacle or setback can separate us from the love of God. Be encouraged.

Shoes are made for walking but when they are worn, the pain can be unbearable when you walk. Journeys are not meant to break us but to teach us a new way to walk. Like the heel of a shoe in the sidewalk, we may fall between the cracks along the way and get stuck. We either can take the shoe off, pull it out of the cracks and move on, or allow it to defeat us and choose to give up. Don’t be discouraged. Walk in your purpose. Keep it moving!

Be blessed! –JD

Colossians 1:9-12 “For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, 10 so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, 11 being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, 12 and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light.” (NIV)

No Matter the Situation, Trust God. Declare In Your Weakest Moments, Yet Will I Trust Him

wpid-img_20150320_200055.jpgSometimes, to find your own peace, you have to make the decision to remove yourself from the equation and let God do what he knows best. You have to decide what to add or subtract from your life that serves no purpose.

God promises it will work for the greater good. And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose (Romans 8:28)

I have been traveling what I find is one of the most difficult, confusing, lengthy journeys I have ever encountered in my life. I have been through many things and can count the times I have faced adversity, questionable trials, and unexpected tribulations hindering my ability to move forward. However, in this particular season of my life, I cannot even begin to explain or understand the depth of my journey and at times question my worthiness. While I know it’s never for me to understand all that God does, yet will I trust Him.

I probably say this more often than most so please excuse me. I have to be honest with myself. Every day I struggle with giving up and going back to what is familiar. I say to myself, it’s easier to give in and settle. But when I sit and do nothing, it doesn’t feel right. I just cannot sit and do nothing. I feel out of place. I cannot settle being comfortable or complacent. God chose me. I cannot go back to way it used to be.

It is then I realize when I am discouraged or frustrated, sometimes I have to get to a place where I sit in pure silence without any distractions to hear from God. And every time I talk about quitting or giving up, when I pray I must listen for that still small voice. God gives me a revelation letting me know he has a different plan. I must keep the faith and learn to be obedient.

God doesn’t want our sacrifice. He wants our obedience. What good are works if you don’t have faith? Honor God with obedience not your works. Without faith it’s impossible to please God. We must be obedient to the Spirit. Do what God tells you to do, and not what your will tells you.

In our deepest moments of pain and suffering when we can’t see God in anything, declare, yet will I trust Him. God is just a prayer away. Pray. God is always listening. He may not come when you want him but he’s always on time. Trust Him. He will answer.

Be blessed! –JD

Aren’t You Glad You Don’t Look Like What You’ve Been Through? I Am! Glory Hallelu!

wpid-img_20141230_082638.jpgWhen you meet with new trials and it seems difficult, remember how good God has been to you. He’s able. God’s faithfulness will sustain you.

Be bold in your prayers. Come to God with audacious faith. Don’t let one circumstance stop your praise. Trust God. Life will be worth living.

Growth is a process. It doesn’t happen on its own. You must be willing to change. Not just you but your mindset and attitude has to change too.

When surrounded by chaos, confusion and you can’t see the forest for the trees, keep your mind stayed on Jesus. He’ll keep you in perfect peace.

Every day you rise, take a look in the mirror, thank God, and say to yourself, “I’m glad I don’t look like what I’ve been through because I’d look like hell.”

The favor of God is on you. He anointed and appointed you. You’ve been tried and tested. Approved by God. Rejoice! It’s your season of elevation.

Be blessed! -JD

Psalm 37:25 “I have never seen the righteous forsaken nor his seed begging bread.” Trust God. He Knows What He’s Doing

wpid-img_20140827_071814.jpgA journey is like pockets of carefully calculated air we breathe. We meet with crossroads of uncertainty, never knowing where it will lead. It’s all in God’s timing indeed.

When storms come and we find ourselves wondering how did we get on the other side? Asking ourselves over and over, how did we make it out alive? We’re bewildered at how we made it through the storm. It was all God. He rescued us while riding through the storm.

Every day we will face new challenges and new experiences that will question our faith. And at times we will find it difficult to see God in anything. God does not keep us from encountering storms, but he will see us through the storm. He promises to rescue us. He walks with and is always with us. You will not fail. “I have never seen the righteous forsaken nor his seed begging bread” (Psalm 37:25). Trust God. He knows just what he’s doing.

I know this may be hard to believe and impossible to understand, but sometimes in the face of adversity God’s perfect will for your life will be revealed. God is speaking to you. He wants to know if you trust him. He wants to see what you’re going to do because he already knows what he’s going to do.

God sends trials to test your faith. The devil sends temptation to destroy your faith. Don’t give in. Let God handle him. When God removes some things from you, the devil knows what He’s about to do and will try anything he can to destroy you. Don’t let him. Whatever he dishes out, return it to the sender!

No matter what troubles you. There’s nothing and I mean nothing God can’t do. Let go. Let God. Nothing is too hard for God. We may struggle and want to give up at times. Consider it pure joy. Praise God in the midst of the storm. No matter the circumstance, glorify God. Trials are a test of our faith. It’s where we will discover God’s faithfulness. Keep the faith.

Be blessed! –JD

Psalm 34:17-20 “17 When the righteous cry for help, the LORD hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. 18 The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. 19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him out of them all. 20 He keeps all his bones; not one of them is broken.”

Be Still. Rest in the Lord – Wait Patiently for God While Riding in the Storm

wpid-img_20140630_182757.jpgGod knows our need before we ask him for a blessing. Sometimes the blessing may not come as we expect, but will come from a perfect stranger.

Don’t look to the right or to the left. Look to the hills from whence cometh your help. God will meet every need. You’ll be blessed indeed!

Sometimes God will put unsuspecting people who are a peculiar people, just as you, in familiar places to bless you. The blessing is for you. You may not see God while going through.

While you’re waiting on God for your breakthrough, do something for someone else. If you know someone who needs a breakthrough, bless them.

Go beyond that which is familiar to you. Leave all that is familiar. Walk in righteousness. Believe what God has for you is for you. Wait on Him. Be patient.

Patience is a fruit of the spirit and develops when you’re going through the storm. God’s teaching you how to wait on him while in the storm. Wait I say. Wait on the Lord. Trust God. Have patience. He who began a good work in you will carry it to completion. Be patient. He’ll do it.

Be blessed! -JD

Romans 12:12-18 “12 Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. 13 Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality. 14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. 16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight. 17 Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. 18 If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.” (ESV)

Don’t Allow Your Circumstances To Change You

The one thing I find that does not change in life is facing opposition or obstacles. Not a day goes by that something does not happen in our lives where we are driven to make a choice either with how we will respond to a situation or how we will behave because of a situation that someone else may have caused prompting an unsolicited response.

Some of us may wake with a feeling of joy, contentment, and accomplishment feeling blessed and thankful God allowed us to see another day. Only to feel lost, broken, confused, and downright sick and tired of being sick and tired when faced with an issue that will affect our well-being or our life because something drastically changed by the middle, end, or few hours of the day.

It took me years to arrive at the place I now find myself being content with how I choose to handle things but I think back on a time when the least annoyance or literal change in my life would cause me to explode, rant, rave, and be in an uproar because of my inability to change the course of action to fit my selfish needs. It didn’t matter who was affected by my decision nor did it matter how I would react. All that mattered is I needed to have my own way. And I would allow obstacles and my way of thinking get in my way preventing me from thinking rationally to make an appropriate decision that would minimize its affects, because of me.

Through time as I developed and matured in my relationship with God, I changed and the manner in how I would respond to situations changed drastically. I accredit this all to God. And while many believe when you grow in age, with age comes wisdom. I am convinced with knowledge of God, when we look to God, come godly wisdom.

Life changes and we do to. But when we learn to accept that which is in our control and leave the rest up to God, we will change for the better too. Emotional responses and irrational thinking will render unfavorable results. Wouldn’t it be easier to respond in a way that will favorably change the outcome and bring favorable results? Instead of  blowing our temper, giving up in frustration, and simply leaving it only to have it come full circle again because we really had not resolved it properly in the first place. We can choose to go to God. Make a decision with a clear mind, seek his direction, find an honorable solution when given discernment and move on, trusting God.

Every day the enemy comes to kill, steal, and destroy. And in most cases, it starts in the mind. We are what we think and we become what we feel when we lose sight of who we are. When we allow our minds to convince us we are above all things on earth and above God and can handle everything that comes our way, we will fail because of refusal to change our mind set. We suffer the consequence even though we could have avoided it. And cause our own demise out of failure to grow spiritually and look to God for wisdom and knowledge in it.

Be willing to change your way of thinking when making decisions in life where nothing is off limits when it concerns your well-being, your health, your children, your finances, and your family. Look to the source, God, for guidance. Choose not to respond to the situation. Suffer not in your affliction. It may seem hard, too much to bear. Know that God will give you strength to endure in your suffering.

You may not understand what you are going through. Regardless what suffering may bring, keep the faith. Trust God to bring you through. In your worst circumstance, rely on God. In the worst situation, trust God. He will bring you through. God promised you.

Everything in the Bible counsels us to trust God in all things no matter the circumstance. Trust in God. Don’t look at your circumstance. “Trust overcomes fear. Trust overcomes depression. Trust overcomes hate.” (1Pe 4:19) You will walk hating everything about your life when you lose sight of God and choose not to change your way of thinking or wait.

Don’t let your circumstance allow you to fear. And cause your mind to convince you to think irrationally out of fear. Trust God in good times and bad, during rainstorms and cloudy days. Even when your money is low and your pockets are full of small change. Trust God in all things. “No matter how overwhelming the situation looks or how it makes you feel” don’t respond out of emotion. Look to God for answers to questions he will reveal (4:19). Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find (Matt 7:7). Don’t conform to the patterns of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind (Ro 12:2).

Pursue knowledge of God to grow spiritually. Change your mindset that you may think clearly. Seek godly wisdom, the Word of God. Rely solely on God. Grow in Christ. Let the Holy Spirit guide your thoughts and actions in reveal of the right answers in order to make the right decisions fearlessly. Have the mind of Christ.

Don’t allow your circumstances to change you. Even if your situation may not change, consider it an opportunity to allow God to change you. Your heart and mind will also change. Rely on God. You will never be the same.

Be blessed! -JD

1 Peter 4:12-13 “Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. 13 But rejoice insofar as you share Christ’s sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed.” (ESV)

Don’t Move Too Fast; Let go. Let God.

The Temptation of Christ, 1854
The Temptation of Christ, 1854 (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

When God birth something in you, he’s faithful and will do just as he promised you. Birthing pains may be hard but the reward, “My God!”

When we are pregnant with possibilities, we can’t help but to give birth to the very thing God sent to us. There will be labor pains and when it’s close to delivery, the devil will do everything in his power to distract us.

Let no man distract and deter you from God’s plan. God got this. It’s all in his hands. You may go through trials. Tribulations will come. In the end, God will be glorified! It’s already done.

Upon reflecting on the greatness of God and what he is doing in my life, the past few months have been what I call heartbreaking, disappointing, surreal, emotional, different, yet fulfilling.

Filled with anxiety, fear (yes, fear), and a multitude of emotions I never thought would happen given my level of faith and trust in God. But as with all things that are new to us, I believe in some way it is to be expected. However it should not be a place you remain too long or where you too often find yourself stagnated.

You see, eleven years ago God gave me a vision. And before I became ill and limited with the use of my hands, I had an idea I felt would be of benefit to a target market I felt was not being tapped into. God had a plan.

Being the unique person I am because with most things I choose not to fall into the norm or fit in with what society deems as stereotypical, I love when a challenge presents itself and I work to solve it. I refuse to find myself defeated where others may find themselves in life, and couldn’t help but stand up to the challenge during one of the most tumultuous times of my life.

I delved into a project and took the liberty of using what most would not believe was the right program to create unique designs, from a flowchart program one fellow classmate blessed me with who worked for a reputable technology corporation when I could not afford it at a time.

I kept trying to figure out what to do with this thing only to lose hope and eventually gave up trying. I was impatient and disobedient. I kept trying to do it my way and couldn’t see my own fault in it. The devil had me spent. Then one day I stopped trying.

It was not until recently God set forth the plan and has been guiding my footsteps ever since. The transition has been smooth and seamless of which I can accredit to my being obedient in following his leading and not the leading of what I thought was best for me. God knew I needed every bit of more than eleven years to prepare me.

While there are still times I feel exhausted, overwhelmed, frustrated, irritated, and can’t see the end result of what God has prepared for me. I am assured this is a task God has assigned specifically for me. I have the greatest joy because I know God is with me. He is in front, on side, behind and goes before me. And I know I am on the right path God is leading me.

Everything happens in God’s time. It doesn’t matter what you or others may have in mind. God’s agenda is never our agenda. We may have a different plan but our agenda is not his agenda. The devil will try to make everything you do look good to you, even when it’s bad for you. And will try to convince you it’s what you are supposed to do. He wants you to think you are to follow your own lead when in fact, if you make the choice to do so you’re setting yourself up to fail.

Whenever God is at work, the devil is unrelenting. He is mad and wants to get even. He won’t stop until he gets your attention. He comes to kill, steal, and destroy. The battle is not yours, it’s the Lord’s. Know this, when the enemy comes to fight, put on the full armor of God. Take a stand against him. Be strong in the Lord (Eph 6:10-11).

When you tell God your plans, he smiles at you. You may think because you say so, it’s already worked out for you. In reality, God knows how it will end for you. God is in control. He has control over everything. Your plans are never his plans. Your agenda is not his agenda. He is the Author and Finisher.

When you take one step, God takes two. Although you can’t see him, envision footprints in the sand that will show a set of two. This is what it tells you. God is carrying you. His plan is much greater for you than what you may think when you follow you.

God will order your steps. Don’t move too fast. Remember, what you do for Christ and not for yourself or others, will last. Walk in obedience. Wait on God.

Don’t move too fast; let go. Let God.

Be blessed! –JD

1 Corinthians 8:1-3 “… It is true, of course, that “all of us have knowledge”, as they say. Such knowledge, however, puffs a person up with pride; but love builds up. 2Those who think they know something really don’t know as they ought to know. 3But the person who loves God is known by him.”

Be Encouraged!

The Triumphant Christ Forgiving Repentant Sinn...

The Triumphant Christ Forgiving Repentant Sinners, Painting by Johann Bockhorst (1604-1688) (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

A triumphant life is a reflection of the storms you’ve been through. No matter what man tried to do to you. God’s grace brought you through.

We may never know what a person has been through by looking on the outside. Only God knows what’s on the inside.

Never judge a book by its cover. We may look all put together. And not have two nickels to rub together. Outer appearances aren’t designed to reveal God’s glory in the struggle.

God will humble the proud and exalt the humble. He shows favor to the humble (Matt 23:12). When you put yourself in a dangerous place and fall from grace, submit. Humble yourself by faith.

Your present does not dictate your past. You are designed for greatness. Let go of the past. God knows all the struggles and hurts you have been through. God cares and loves you. For your faithfulness, God will reward you.

Rejoice! Don’t fret. God’s not through with you yet. He is Alpha and Omega. He is the beginning and the end. What God starts, he finishes. He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion. For every trial, God sends it for a reason.

Be encouraged! What you see is not the end. God has begun a good work in you and will complete it to the end. Trust Him.

Be blessed! -JD

It All Will Work For the Greater Good

There are people who may try to do what you do. They may even try to imitate you. But they can’t take away what God has for you. There are some that may be working against you. God knows and sees everything. What he has for you is for you.

Be careful who you share your dreams with. You can’t tell everybody everything about yourself. You must keep some things to yourself. Not everybody will celebrate you. You can’t share your dreams with everybody else. Trust God. His purpose will manifest and speak for itself.

When thinking about the issue of trust, I am reminded of an incident that occurred some years ago where I proposed, I thought was a great idea for the department I worked in. I felt the development of a quality assurance process would be beneficial and would help minimize errors and decrease losses in the department while increasing accuracies to the workflow.

After talking with another colleague and mentioning my idea, we managed to put together a proposal to submit to upper management. Well, as it turns out, they rejected the idea and gave lack of funding as reason for the denial. To my surprise, I later learned my supervisor took the idea to management and proposed it as his own. My name was never mentioned. Yet, God still covered me and exposed the true nature of the person I thought could be trusted.

I try not to judge people. I also am a pretty good judge of character. My downfall though is I believe everyone has the ability to do good acts. And everyone should work to do right all the time. I am naïve when it comes to right and wrong. I imagine we all have some small radar inside that signals us to know the difference between the two and we will do what’s right not when necessary but because we should. But that’s just me.

When I hear of incidents in the news where people commit unconscionable acts, my first instinct is disbelief. I cannot believe someone would do something like that. I cannot imagine a person doing such a thing without knowing it was the wrong thing to do.

I’m reminded of the story of what happened to Joseph when he shared his dreams with his brothers. They were jealous of him, turned on him, and stripped him of his coat. But that didn’t take away his integrity. God knew what he had already prepared for him. God was with him. His purpose was fulfilled through him.

In spite of his brothers working against him as the enemy, who tried to kill his dreams, he overcame. Although he may have suffered and had some struggles, God’s plan was greater in the end. Joseph forgave his brothers. God’s purpose was served in the end. For God, he did great things. He used Joseph as the vessel to carry out his will. His dreams were carried out in spite of them. God gave Joseph the gift to interpret dreams but it was not the dreams that helped Joseph interpret its meaning. It was his knowledge of God. God set him up to fulfill his dreams. It was all God.

Even at my age I am still learning how to not be so naïve, just as Joseph who was too. I know the difference between discerning and judging others. I have love for all my sisters and brothers. I’ve always been one to share my goals and aspirations with others. I hardly ever think about the motives or intentions of them. I try to think in terms of good things about them. God also gives me discernment. No matter what or regardless of their intent, I know in the end it won’t stop God’s intent. What God has for me is for me. No one or nothing can ever take it away from me. Just as he has for me, he has for you. No one can stop the plans God has for you.

I heard this from my Bishop at church today and it serves as confirmation of the words I’ve chosen to share today. “God has a gift that isn’t just for me here locally, but for the nation. He will make me great to the nations. And he will bless me. He will bless those who bless me, help those who help me. He will curse those who curse me, and punish those who hurt me.” I will be what God has called me to be. God’s purpose will manifest through me.

Most importantly, I’ve learned that opportunities may come when we least expect them. We must be prepared for the unexpected. Yet sometimes we aren’t, especially when we think we are. We must make sure we have the right relationship with God. When opportunities come don’t miss or misinterpret them; be ready. Stay close to God. Be ready!

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose (Rom 8:28 KJV).

What man meant for evil, God meant for good. No matter the situation or what others think or do. It all will work for the greater good.

Be blessed! -JD

1 Corinthians 12:7-9: 11 “Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. 8To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by means of the Spirit, 9to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit,… 11All these are the work of and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, just as he determines.” (NIV)

“The greater the gifts are, the more the possessor is exposed to temptations, and the larger is the measure of grace needed to keep him humble and spiritual; and he will meet with more painful experiences and humble dispensations. We have little cause to glory in any gifts bestowed on us or to despise those who have them not.” – (Taken from Matthew Henry’s Concise Commentary athttp://biblehub.com/1_corinthians/12-7.htm)

Trust God’s Sovereign Will

MP900182538God is able to do exceedingly and abundantly above all you could ever think or ask. He will give you the desires of your heart if you honestly seek him when you ask.

We may feel overwhelmed when a situation seems humanly impossible. God makes all things possible. Trouble doesn’t last always. Don’t underestimate God’s power. He’s all knowing. He’s Sovereign. He’ll show you the way out. He’ll work it out. With God we can overcome. It’s already done.

Let your focus be on God today. Concentrate on his power, even when you can’t see through troubles you face. Trust God. He has all power. That’s all he needs. He will meet your every need. His will is sovereign.

Be happy for others. Don’t desire what they have; even if you don’t have what they have. Be content. Be grateful to God believing because of his grace, all that you have is a blessing.

When God opens one door, he closes another. When he births something inside you, you don’t need validation from others. God will see you through the process. Deliverance is yours because of his Divine Providence.

Oftentimes we confuse our own desires with God’s will. Don’t confuse your will with God’s will. If things turn out in your favor but are contrary to what the Word says, it may have happened because of what you wanted and not what God said.

When you do or ask God for something in any given situation, you will know what God’s will is without hesitation. If what you ask will glorify God and build the kingdom, you won’t need any explanation. It will help you grow spiritually. It will not be something that goes against what the Bible forbids. Nor will you do it unwillingly. You won’t have to wonder, if it is unrighteous. When it concerns the will of God, it is righteous.

Moreover, if God doesn’t give you what you ask for, it may be that it’s not his will for you to have it. However, it could also mean that you may need to wait longer to have it. God does not give us specific information or direct answers to what he will do. He requires we make the right choices in whatever we do.

“Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart (Psalm 37:4).” Commit your ways to him and he will give you the desires of your heart. Because God’s will is good and perfect and will not deviate from what his Word says. It won’t change. He will do what he says.

Do as God desires, make the decision to not sin or resist His will. Make choices that are appropriate. Choices that are in agreement with his will. Walk closely with the Lord to do as he desires. Let his will be your will in what he desires.

God is able to do exceedingly and abundantly above all we could ever ask or think. He will place his desires on our heart when we walk closely with him. If what you desire can be of benefit and the Bible does not speak against it, this is your answer to make the right decisions. Follow your heart in it.

Renew your mind. Don’t conform to this world. You then will be able to test God’s will by his Word. Humble yourself in spirit. Truly seek God in all you do. God will reveal His will to you.

God’s Word instructs and guides us. He surrounds us with godly wisdom to make it through any season. He sends prayer warriors to pray for us for unknown reasons. God desires to impart in us, the fruit of the spirit to begin the process to mold us, in the image of his Son. The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control (Galatians 5:22, 23). It will transform you. Let His will, not your will, be done.

Be blessed! -JD

John 15:3, 4 “Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you. 4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.” (ESV)

Consider Failure a Life Lesson

Fail Road

Fail Road (Photo credit: fireflythegreat)

Failure is a symptom of unrealistic expectation. It is not a person. If we set our hearts and minds on God, He’s real. His Word does not fail nor will it return void.

Oftentimes we confuse the idea of failure with the reality of our perception when things don’t go the way we expected. While it is true we all have habits or some false sense of perception we deal with that may present obstacles to getting where we need to in life. We must be cognizant of the role we play in making it happen and the role God expects us to play to trust that he will allow it to happen in our life.

If we took a moment to think about what kind of life we would have if we sat endlessly waiting for something to happen. What do you think would happen? If we lacked effort in taking the initiative to be held accountable to do things that would please God. How else would we be able to please God? We make the mistake of expecting God to bless us in his mercy and goodness towards us. And find ourselves frustrated when we think he has failed us. We then blame him when things do not turn out as WE expected. When in fact it really may be exactly what God expected.

To set the expectation that others are to assume what we are thinking and are conscious of what we need, is not in alignment with God’s will. We must not assume others know what it is we don’t’ have and what it is we need just because we don’t have. Does it mean others are supposed to assume what you are thinking? Based on the assumption they knew what you needed and be held responsible for what it is you were lacking because they know what you are lacking. More so, what if you didn’t take the initiative to help yourself but expected others to help you because they knew you needed help? And you expected them to do what it was you failed to do in the absence of calling and asking for help.

When we fail to take responsibility in the part we play, failure will be prevalent in our relationships when we hold others accountable for our mistakes. It will diminish our relationship with them. We also will hurt our relationship with God. God is a Good God. He will do it anyway. He will clean up our mistakes.

God helps the helpless. And will help us overcome when in despair. In all things we are not able to help ourselves but God’s help is available to everyone who seek him in prayer. He will give us strength to do things we are willing to do that may seem impossible. He will make all things possible. But we must be responsible.

God does not expect us to do everything but he does desire we do some things for ourselves. Otherwise, why would we need his help if we totally depended on ourselves? On our own we are helpless and with difficulty we cannot operate alone in this thing called life. With God’s help we can. God helps the helpless. He is the bread of life.

God expects us to do things that please him. But we must be held accountable for our actions and stop playing the victim. God wants your all. He doesn’t want you to put the blame on others but wants you to walk before Him and be blameless when you fall.

God requires our faithfulness in our service and desires we use the gifts and talents he blessed us with. Make use of your gifts and talents to enrich the lives of others instead of waiting on others to make a life for you in it. God will get the glory when you do. He will reward you.

God desires you to be the answer and not depend on others for an answer to a life you feel you may have failed because you chose not to answer. Pay attention. Don’t choose to become a victim because you denied God’s provision. When you take matters into your own hands, don’t complain when others fail to do what you assumed they would do. Not realizing God was there to do what he promised he would do. Or get mad when you could have easily taken a stand to do for yourself and looked to God from whence cometh your help.

Demonstrate God’s love and compassion when helping others. Help yourself too. But don’t get angry or disappointed out of your own selfish ambition when others fail you. Don’t allow selfish motives to define the reason you make assumptions regarding the expectations of others. Be God’s mouthpiece, help yourself, encourage and help one another.

When you are called to do things you may not feel like doing, do them without effort as they will become a part of you. Make a decision to please God in all you do. Because God created you to be a blessing to others as he blesses you. God expects your obedience and your follow through.

God orders our steps. He leads us in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. We may not understand everything. Let God lead the way. And follow the path he designed for you today.

One of the greatest things in life can be found in failure. It can be for your own good. Failures demonstrate God’s grace and his love.

Therefore, make a declaration. Accept failure as a life lesson. Don’t blame others but take responsibility for your actions. Let God have his way.  Trust God.  Don’t let your failures keep you from serving him.  Thank God for the blessing.

Consider failure a life lesson.

Be blessed! -JD

Proverbs 16:2-3,9All a person’s ways seem pure to them, but motives are weighed by the Lord. 3 Commit to the Lord whatever you do,  and he will establish your plans. 9 In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” NIV

Rejoice In Disappointments

Cape Disappointment State Park

Every day we are faced with life’s disappointments. We can become disappointed by a number of things which can be hard to accept.

Sometimes jobs can be hard to find but disappointing when easy to lose. Relationships can be developed over time but disappointing when easily lost in a matter of seconds, days, weeks, months, less than years oftentimes over trivial matters.

True friendships can be hard to find but acquaintances can be easy to discover when in search of a life we choose to live in secret and undercover. One that may not be centered on Christ but exist clearly out of our need for a social life.

The unexpected loss of a loved one can bring disappointment as well as hurt beyond measure but hard to recover because a heart cannot be easily mended. We can encounter individuals who lack compassion, sensitivity, respect, or are just plain mean with hardened hearts but will easily offend us.

Disappointment can come in various forms, but basically it simply means we are disappointed by the world which oftentimes will bring a lack of trust, destruction, and warped perception.

But the one thing I find most disturbing is disappointment with self when we already know what is to be expected when we encounter certain situations in life, especially ones that are not in our control. And what can be even more frustrating is how we handle it. Because many times we want what we want, when we want it, how we want it. And will use any means necessary to see that we get it. Overlooking the fact that some things will not happen the way we want but instead will happen exactly the way God plans it.

As believers, we are given the astute advantage of knowing how to deal with disappointments in life because we have God’s Word as a resource that can bring clarity and wisdom. It will allow us to be conscious of the decisions we make when faced with it. We must be open to change. Face reality and know that disappointment cannot be avoided. However, we are to expect the unexpected but never forget God in the process.

When faced with problems that are beyond our control, we are to persevere and seek God. It is at this time we will seek to do and not seek to ask why. It is our opportunity to grow and mature in our relationship with God when we profess our troubles to him. And ask what is it he wants us to do with this and not what we are led to believe we are to do with it.

It is through our experiences that will help us learn to trust God. It’s a component of how we grow spiritually and mature in character. It helps us to grow in faith. Faith requires us to trust that God has a better plan even when we cannot see it or understand it. We learn to depend on God and not ourselves.

Disappointments are part of the norm. It’s to be expected. But even more so, sometimes God uses circumstances and allows disappointments to strengthen us and compel us to fully trust him. That we may avoid believing we can live life apart from Him. It is our opportunity to move closer to Him even in the midst of our deepest disappointments. Because God does not desire that we look to man or our circumstances but to Him.

If God brings you to it, he will bring you through it. He will show you what he needs you to do and will equip you to do it. Respond to life’s circumstances positively rather than negatively. Trust that God’s provision will give you the power to sustain and overcome no matter the result.  Choose to walk not by the flesh but in the way God has made available through the Holy Spirit.

God promises that nothing, I mean nothing will happen that he does not have control. He will work it out for our good and His glory. We may disappoint God many times, but he never gives up on us. Don’t give up on him. By his grace, move forward.

Rejoice in disappointments.

Be blessed! –JD

Habakkuk 3:17-19 NKJV “Though the fig tree may not blossom, Nor fruit be on the vines; Though the labor of the olive may fail, And the fields yield no food; Though the flock may be cut off from the fold, And there be no herd in the stalls— 18 Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation 19 The Lord God is my strength; He will make my feet like deer’s feet, And He will make me walk on my high hills…”

Forgive To Heal….Trust Your Belief

One of the hardest things to accept is when someone disappoints, hurts or betrays you. Yet the greatest reaction is to see God in it and not react to them. But instead react to Him. It may anger you but when your heart is in the right place, you’ll overlook their sin. You’ll choose to follow God’s orders and not sin in it. It may hurt your feelings but you’ll get over it.

Oprah’s Lifeclass Forgiveness Quotes

When people hurt, disappoint or betray don’t take it personal or retaliate. Instead pray for them and wait.  God will see you through. And eventually, they will change too.

Your heart will be reflective of him because a heart of God will speak love. But a heart filled with bitterness and resentment speaks unforgiveness and is hard. A heart filled with contempt speaks lies and deceit. The latter is reserved for those who choose not to seek forgiveness and repent.

Trust will also play a major role in your response to a healthy life. As it manifests and renders your soul unhealthy when holding on to bitterness and strife. Ultimately bringing things such as pain and resentment as you live a defeated life.

Oftentimes a lingering lack of trust can be the very obstacle that will prevent your ability to move forward when you are blind to what’s hindering you. If you aren’t careful, complacency and blissful ignorance can lead to a lifetime of bondage in all you choose to do. But it doesn’t have to be this way. If you open your heart to God and let him lead the way.

Forgiveness begins in the heart and must first take place there in order to start the healing process. Otherwise you may never be burdenless. Even though it may be hard to get there, the most important thing is to learn to trust God on your way there. Learn to forgive yourself and forgive others; for your sake and not the sake of others.

While the prevalence of broken trust may be difficult or painful to forget, forgiveness will break the cycle of your unfaithfulness. But eventually it will be up to you. To make the choice that will lead to a healthy life that you may start fresh. Anew

No matter what people may do to hurt you. Remember, there’s nothing impossible God can’t do. Choose to stay in the right standing with him. Don’t rely on man to heal you but look to him. Be willing and open to change. Seek God in the midst of your pain. For, it is he that can make your life whole again.

Trust, have faith. Open your heart. Heal and be healed. Surrender to God’s will. Allow God to mend your heart so that you may forgive and be forgiven too. Overlook the offense, move forward, and let God lead you. To a life filled with joy that he promised you.

Turn every disappointment into a blessing, failures into successes. May trials become triumphs and tests become faith testaments. Forgive that you may heal. Trust that you may believe. Embrace all that God has in store for you. And you shall receive… a renewed life.

Be Blessed! -JD
